shannon-rogers-texas-actress-ricinShannon Guess Richardson, a 35 year old Texarkana, Texas wife of a retired Army veteran, 33 year Nathanial Richardson, was arrested by authorities for threatening the President by sending a letter laced with ricin, a derivative of the castor oil plant, Ricinus communis, is a highly toxic protein. A dose the size of a few grains of salt is sufficient to cause death within 3-5 days. There is no known antidote.

The initial report was registered by wife Shannon against her estranged husband claiming he had sent the letter to the president and to mayor Bloomburg and his Washington based gun control advocates. The arrest was made by the FBI who responded to the address in hazmat suits. Through a corroboration of the FBI and other law enforcement agencies resulted in the arrest of Shannon Richardson. She was seen by hospital officials for an unknown issue, and hospital officials would not reveal the nature of her visit.

The FBI has been investigating three other cases that developed over the last two months where ricin was sent to Obama by mail as well as other people. Experts say there is the possibility that copycat attacks may be on the upswing, because it is fairly easy to extract the poison and that may be the reason of the upswing in occurrences.

When inhaled, ricin will cause respiratory failure, if swallowed, it will cause the liver to stop working, the same thing will happen to the kidneys and cause serious injury to the stomach, causing it to malfunction resulting in death.
