I saw it earlier this year in Safari on the Mac (in February? or January?)...maybe because both it and Chrome use the same Webkit rendering engine? It seems to be totally gone now, but there is a different left-side column that appears when you click show options under the google logo in the results. It looks very different (like the old Google graphics scheme, without the shinny little icons and large text) but does appear to have the same kind of features as described in this article. To be honest I liked the new look they tried out, but it had some inconsistencies—like it would often revert to the old look when I switched to images, for example. Now it stays the same look with the same features all the time.

Also, while here on this page, I noticed a vertical Google Apps ad that featured the bright, trademark-less logo. When is google going to finally do something consistently???????

YES! I noticed it last night 3/5/2010 Exactly as you describe. But now I can't seem to find it again.

Also, I Do Not have Google Chrome Browser.
I thought I typed in www.google.com wrong or something but, thats not possible because its my homepage - well it's a firefox google home page. >>> www.google.com/firefox?client=firefox-a&rls=o...

I will now try to reproduce the same effect - but I really don't know how?!#%
