Spirit Airlines Strike News Update

Since Saturday, Spirit Airlines flights have been canceled. The Spirit pilots represented by the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) went on strike Saturday after contract negotiations with U.S. mediation has failed to bridge differences on wages and flight scheduling between pilots and the company. Spirit Airlines said on Tuesday that it would extend flight cancellations through Thursday as a pilot union strike continued.

In the meantime, as of Saturday, June 12, 2010, the pilot union has declared a strike.

Therefore, Spirit Airlines flights are cancelled through Thursday, June 17, 2010. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

If you are scheduled to fly Spirit on Saturday, June 12 – Thursday, June 17, 2010, we will process a future flight credit for the full amount of the unflown portion of your reservation plus an additional $100 future flight credit to thank you for your continued support.

Or, if you would prefer to receive a full refund for the unflown portion of your reservation instead, please call 1 (800) 772-7117 and one of our Customer Service Representatives will assist you. (Customers who prefer to receive a refund instead of a future flight credit will not receive the additional $100 future flight credit.)

    Check the web site. Your 3 minutes old story is out of date! The strike is over. Flights resume Friday.
