University of Florida Gators Hire Will Muschamp as New Head Football Coach

Muschamp was most recently the defensive coordinator with Texas.  The new coach has spent his first few days concentrating on keeping those players who have verbally committed to the University of Florida interested in the school.  These commitments are really about the relationship and he has only a few weeks to renew their faith in choosing Florida.

The University will officially introduce Will Muschamp to the Gator Nation on Tuesday December 14, 2010.  He has not yet expressed what assistant coaches he plans to keep.  However, it must be noted that the current eight member Gator assistant coaching staff command an estimated $2.4 million base salary and have a year left on their contracts.  No matter what he does it won’t be cheap.

This will be Muschamp’s first experience as a head coach and you can be sure that after Florida’s lackluster 7 – 5 regular season that the fans will be paying close attention.
