During the ongoing network outage, AT&T recommends using Wi-Fi calling to maintain communication. This feature allows users to make calls and send texts via a Wi-Fi connection.

To activate Wi-Fi calling, follow these steps:

1. Open the Settings app on your phone.
2. For iPhone users, select “Cellular.” For Android users, choose “Connections” or “Network & Internet” depending on your device.

Verizon spokesperson Richard Young expressed optimism that the nationwide issue affecting AT&T customers is nearing resolution.

Carriers often remain silent on the causes of network outages, which in the past have ranged from construction accidents to network updates with bugs.

The outage has disrupted services in several local governments. San Francisco’s Department of Emergency Management, Upper Arlington’s Fire Department in Ohio, St. Joseph County in Michigan, Cobb County in Georgia, and Cabel County in West Virginia all reported impacts on their emergency services. The New York Police Department and Massachusetts State Police also noted issues with AT&T’s network affecting their operations.

AT&T’s FirstNet network, which serves first responders, has remained operational throughout the outage. This network is designed to be more robust than AT&T’s commercial network.

Meanwhile, Verizon and T-Mobile reported about 1,000 outages each, according to DownDetector, but both companies confirmed that their networks were operating normally. T-Mobile suggested that reports of its outage might reflect difficulties in connecting with users on other networks.

Arizona coronavirus

Furthermore, he said that the racist system needed to be revamped, in terms of how the police department operates.

Moreover, on a video it is shown that a protest organizer took the microphone. Only to ask Jacob Frey would he commit to defunding the Minneapolis Police Department.

After some back and forth, Frey answered that he does not support the full abolition of the police. At that moment the crowd started booing and called for Jacob Frey to go home.

Defunding the police

Calls to “defund the police” are growing across the nation.

However, many activists say this means they want funds to be reallocated from police departments to initiatives that support communities of color. Some of the initiatives include mental health resources and COVID-19 support.

In addition, many advocates say this movement is not promoting the full abolition of police, rather they want cities to scale back on police department budgets.

Over the last few decades, police budgets across the country have risen into the billions.

This incident stroke a nerve not only in Minneapolis, but in the whole US. Which also spread to some parts of the world.

The situation was not handled very well by the Minneapolis authorities.

Therefore, some wonder whether Frey’s approach to the crisis might damage his chances for reelection next year.

Police had cleared the 3^rd precinct shortly after 10 p.m., when demonstrators forcibly entered and ignited several fires.

Mayor Jacob Frey decided to pull police out of the precinct, but they still patrolled the community.

Additionally, fires burned on both sides of the police station as demonstrators pushed down temporary fencing and occupied property at the precinct. Other buildings nearby were also burning.

Furthermore, the city of Minneapolis urged people to retreat from the area as a precaution. Minneapolis news reports that gas lines of the 3^rd precinct have been cut and other explosives are in the building.

Police reported there were no serious injuries.

Gov. Tim Walz signed an executive order activating the National Guard. The order was needed after extensive damage to private property occurred and peaceful protests evolved into a dangerous situation for protesters and first responders.

St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter urged people to stay home and not to come to protest. He said to focus on George Floyd, on advancing the movement and on preventing this from ever happening again.

In addition, President Donald Trump blamed local leadership for the unrest and threatening deploy National Guard troops.

In Minneapolis news about 170 businesses are facing severe damages by vandalism, looting, or fires.

Looters broke into Target and T.J. Maxx.

Metro Transit shut down almost all services. An airport shuttle and its Northstar commuter line were all that remained operational.

In New York City, at least 40 people are facing charges by the police.

Minneapolis leaders pleaded for peace.
