In an introduction session with media, Yahoo’s executive showed a demo of the app. In order to communicate with your friends and family on Livetext, you will need to be “friends” with them. You can start the session and start sending faces, expressions with your texts written on them. There are a lot of emojis, colors, expressions, edits available natively in the app.

The only novel feature of Livetext is that, unlike other video messaging apps, it has no sound. This decreases stress and increases the usability of the app, as most of the people want to communicate along with doing their routine tasks. Instagram has updated the iOS and Android app and finally the emojis feature is added for hashtags that means you can now write hashtags in Instagram with emojis and search the posts based on emojis. Moreover, Instagram has also given three new filters for the Instagram users in the new update.

In a statement, Instagram said that emojis are becoming the cardinal part of the social media messaging and interaction around the web. “We were recently able to confirm that there was unauthorized access to a Slack database storing user profile information. We have since blocked this unauthorized access and made additional changes to our technical infrastructure to prevent future incidents,” said the Slack’s statement.

Slack has been hailed as the best communication app for iOS and Android which could be used by companies, co-working environments and anyone for productivity.

Unfortunately, several sources have confirmed that Slack security systems are not that state of the art. His name being attached to Swing Copters alone could explain its sudden rise to the 12th most popular game in the App Store after having been released only earlier that day. While that theory is likely, the game is also getting praise from critics and players as fun, addictive and visually reminiscent of its predecessor, Flappy Birds.
Like Flappy Birds, Swing Copters follows the same basic premise of getting to point A to point B without dying. The seemingly simple task of maneuvering a flying pixelated character about your mobile screen, avoiding gates with swinging hammers, seems easy enough. However, much like Flappy Birds, these simple challenges don’t seem daunting at first, but quickly prove to be incredibly difficult and frustrating. In fact, many players have been reporting that Swing Copters is far more challenging than Flappy Birds. It seems to be good news for other operating systems like iOS, Windows and Blackberry but awful for the Android users. Eric Schmidt has openly said that Android is more secure than iOS, but due to increasing issues of security and privacy this does not seem to be true. Users can install the updates for security issues on the regular basis, plus using a password or pin and setting your phone to lock after a period of inactivity could be a more positive step for a secure and fast operating system.

With over a billion users, and more growing, it has turned into the online world. But what many people may not know is that since 2011, 3 million teens have left Facebook. This is quite some shocking news because we know that the young adults are the ones who use and join Facebook the most, but it was never thought that they would ever actually leave the social network. Have a look at the chart below and see for yourself:

From this chart, you can see that kids aged 13-17 have dropped by more than 25%! From 13 million users in January of 2011 to 10 million users in January of 2014. If you look below the 13-17 area, you’ll see that the 18-24 range has also lost about 3 million users in 3 years. This information  is shocking. Look even more below and the most surprising thing you’ll see that people aged 55+ have increased by 80% in 3 years! It’s like the complete opposite. Usually, you’d expect the teens to grow and the seniors to drop, but it’s the other way around. Here’s a more in-depth look at the 13-17 years old and 55+ years old:

This information displays that most teens are single and most 55+ folks are married/parents. There’s no surprise there. It also shows that iOS seems to be the most popular device that Facebook is used through. What can we make of this information? Is Facebook starting to slowly appeal more to the older people instead of the teens? Is Facebook doing this on purpose, or are just teen leaving Facebook so they can focus on studies? The reason is unknown, but what we do know is that if this trend continues in the same pattern, there might not be any teens left on Facebook in 2020!

The Emergency Alert button is right beside the Follow button, making it an easy task for users to subscribe to emergency alerts. Twitter also announced that organizations from Brazil and Australia have joined the service. The alert system is very beneficial for users. 70 organizations worldwide joined when it was announced in September and now there are over 120 organizations. Twitter’s a quick and easy way to relay information and these emergency alerts will help people know immediately about any emergencies, whether they are in their country or in another country. Especially during major events, for example the 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia or The 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Many people from all over the world will travel to these countries to witness these events and increased security and easy access to emergenciy alerts will be crucial. Everyone has a cellphone in today’s world and they have Twitter as well. It’s good that the safety of the people and access to important information is being developed.

If you are an iOS user, you get some more features. Alerts will appear on the bottom of the page in a bright orange bar. So as you are scrolling through the feed, these bars will appear every time an emergency alert is sent out. You can see that on the left picture, above. This feature is not available for Android yet, so if you’re an iPhone owner, good for you! Twitter is rapidly expanding and is more information friendly than Facebook. This new upgrade will benefit the public strongly and will urge more organization from countries worldwide to join the Emergency Alert system. We have read articles on police forces using Twitter in a productive way and so and so, it is good to see a large body like Twitter improving the safety of the people and how they react to emergencies. A big thumbs up to Twitter for doing things like this. Instead of using social media as a way to ruin people, they are finding ways to help people. Thank You Twitter!
