My facebook is down and I have been locked out for hours. If I can not get back in soon I and all my family, friends and associates through phone conversations and text have agreed to move back to Myspace, we simply have had enough. Whatever they have done, so many of us have lost the abilit to re connect and for some of us in my group it has been for more than days. The new layout will cost facebook all their following eventually.

i got the maintainance message this morning and still cant get back in,im really pissed off,wondering if i should open a new account but having to start from scratch doesnt appeal,if only they contacted you first so ur in the picture,instead it just vanishes,so frustrating

MAJOR SOLUTION TO "SITE MAINTENANCE ERROR". OMG, after a bunch of frustration and then prayer, I figured out how to get back into my aacount after trying to log in and wait the 3hours they say it will take to fix the problem. I am back in. It was such a simple solution. ATTN: FACEBOOK, if this error is really non deliberate and you really need a solution, contact me. I'd love to help you make users like me much happier with quick fixes to frustrating problems! WHAT A RELIEF!

I have been locked out of my account i set up to talk to my son in london since thier new layout launch. But there is another problem that has not been reported, that the new layout does not work on all machines but very few. Also facebook has a bad complaints proceedure ie- anyone can be reported then disabled and when you ask for a reason you get told nothing but you will not be reactivated and tuff. All these problems could be avoided if facebook was to listen to thier users and stop turning this site from user friendly into a commercial product. After all it was set up for the general public and buisnesses. Go back three layouts is what we the public want. Yes your developers make a pretty layout but this is not what we want. Turn back before we go for good. Time to stand up against thier ignorance.

As of now, I've had the new layout for about three weeks. My account was fortunate enough to change over last and thus, the last to shut down I suppose. I've been locked out for about half an hour. I've tried every method, manual and normal, to access the site to no avail. All of my friends, and I mean all, are encountering the same issues. I hope this issue is resolved before I start to walk.

Same problem here. There seems to be a pattern – new layout works for around 2 days then the site maintenance message appears! I have been locked out for over 24 hours now – Has anyone had their issue resolved and are now able to log in? How long were you locked out for?

Mine has been "down" with the same message "your account is temporarily unavailable due to site maintenance" since about 8am this morning CST. I usually keep my account logged in due to I am on FB alot. When I opened my laptop this morning I got a pop-up saying that "your session has timed out", which I thought was weird in the first place since I have never had a "session timed out" message before. I just assumed that was part of the "new" layout since I got the new layout about 2 days ago. I sent an email to FB via the help center but it looks like I will be playing the waiting game. Wish me luck!!!

I was locked out of my account for 24 hours. While searching for an answer I found a link for facebook lite. This site let me log in, and I clicked on the facebook logo at the top, which directed me to the normal facebook page. I have been able to log in and out with no problems now. Im sorry but I dont have a link , but I do hope this helps. It was driving me crazy!
