when did apple ever call the new iphone “iphone4G”??? The name of the new iphone is “iphone4”. This article is a waste of space

Apple does not speak on unannounced products. Therefore, Apple is not misleading with any product branding. Having said that, there would be no reason for people to name the fourth generation iPhone as iPhone 4G. In the past Apple has released 3 iPhones, iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3G S. These product names had to do with the speed of the device, not the generation. iPhone 3G was because it was the first iPhone to run on AT&T’s 3G network. iPhone 3G S ran on the 3G network and had extra built in Speed. So, if Apple were to name an unannounced product the iPhone 4G then they would be breaking from the routine of naming iPhones. Keep in mind, the second generation iPhone was named iPhone 3G. If apple named the new iPhone iPhone 4G then the iPhone 3G should have been dubbed iPhone 2G. If Apple does announce an iPhone named iPhone 4G it would be named such due to the fact it would be running on a 4G network, not because of the generation of the device. Hope this clears up any confusion.

I don't have any problem referring to it as the "iPhone 4G" to designate the anticipated new phone, whether or not Apple has said anything official about it. A google search of iphone 4G returns over 6 1/2 million hits. It's entered the common vocabulary and therefore fully appropriate to use.

And yes, it has created confusion, probably because Apple wants it that way. The new phone will be announced as being able to run on Verizon's 4G to-be-rolled out network, and I'll take bets on it.

You guys do not need to do research.. just need to learn how to read:

Of course apple has not said anything about a "4G", however, iFans refer to it as if it is a 4G phone.

If Apple calls the next iphone "iPhone 4G" then this article we just read will be 100% true and they will be misleading people.
