Get a rubber donut, install it on the bottom of flange. then lower a sleeve over pipe, and fill donut with 120psi of air.

In reply to guest. There is a rubber lock gasket, put it on a length of pipe w/ a bell. And a valve on the other end make the pipe heavy, slip the bell end on the cut pipe with the valve open. Put dolls around the pipe. Then shut valve slowly if it holds put a sleeve around the pipe past dolls and pour concrete as a kicker, then shut valve.

obviously you don’t understand how the oil gets out of the well. the oil and gas inside the well is under pressure. that pressure exceeds the pressure of the sea at 5000 ft. once out of the well specific gravity takes over and the oil being less dense and lighter than seawater floats to the surface. Try this to see what I mean. get a clear plastic container and a syringe. drill a small hole in the bottom of the container then glue the syringe to the container with the tip through the hole plug the tip and remove the plunger fill the syringe 3/4 full of vegetable oil then replace the plunger hold the container upright and then fill with salt water after the weight of the water pops the plug out of the syringe tip the oil will behave like the oil coming out of the well.

In reply to jackie. do you have any idea how hard it is to shut a well in thats at the bottom of the ocean? not to mention the temperatures, and the pressures their dealing with? and trying to find a cheaper way? nothing about this is cheap. between the well deserved fines for environmental and safety violations, not to mention the millions if not billions of dollars they're dumping into cleaning this mess up.
