If we had a commited alternate energy policy in place there would be no need for deepwater drilling, ergo no spill problems. BP is “taking a leak” in the Gulf on our collective heads and telling us it’s just raining. As an analogy, had we not been prepared with effective countermeasures in WW II the battle of Midway could not have been won and we’d likely now be speaking Japanese while sucking down sushi at a local pub over a glass of sake. The lesson to be learned: When there’s a will there’s a WAY! How? Begin by outlawing ALL lobbies in Washington; enact a mandatory death penalty for bribe taking; require oil companies to invest at least 40% of income in alternate energy applications; and, enact an excess profits tax on said companies to fund energy growth. No guts, no gain!

The greed of man has finally come to haunt him. BP is just a catalyst in this disaster, if Americans did not want more oil BP would not be in that GULF! HOWEVER in saying that BP is absolutely criminal with the intent on which they "try" to clean this up. Claiming over 48 million in paid monies to suffered and losses SO WHAT??? BP earned over 243 BILLION DOLLARS LAST YEAR ALONE??? Let BP GO to jail !! If Greenpeace did this and killed the environment they would have 100 years in a Federal JAIL! SO SHOULD ALL INVOLVED IN THIS AT BP! Why should BIG OIL not be CRIMINALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR DEATHS AND ECOLOGICAL DISASTERS ???

Are yall seeing or smelling oil in PCB yet. Also have they placed any booms to try and stop the oil? I have been going to PCB for 20 years and would still come back this year if the beaches arent closed. What are the locals expecting will happen in the weeks to come?

BP should be held accountable for every cent. Clearly, the other oil companies are equally neglect because if they had ability to deal with this disaster, it would have been made available. Having said that, I pray for a solution and for all living things that have been and will be touched by this ongoing disaster. This magnitude of this tragedy is beyond comprehension. It is up to state and federal offices and to the president to provide support, oversight, and to enforce.

More than that, money cant fix the damage that has already occured to the most beautiful body of water on earth, so fix that bp, fix my gulf, fix it back to the way it smelled and felt and looked to me as a child, the majestic gulf has supernatural powers, the sparkle over the water at sunset, the emerald green tint, the clearest and most pure beaches ever, and it will forever be changed, im not big on the 2012 apocalypse stuff, but damn this really makes you think, we can destroy ourselves all by ourselves, and im not a liberal treehugger, im a registered republican, and if this is coming from me then obviously shit has hit the fan..

The oil spill is truly bad and harms many people, that cannot be denied. The other truth is that over a period of years those being harmed have directly or indirectly benefitted from BP and the oil industry in the gulf.
I have no doubt that someone or several someones made bad mistakes that led to the explosion.
The issue now is to contain the well, work with the spilled oil and attempt to assign blame later. Most folks have no idea of the complexity of the issue nor the way to fix it. Let the people who know the oil business do their work.

Please call your Congressman and Senator and tell them for your further support they need to provide for the preparations of the biggest clean up in history. We do not have time to wait for inept BP to think about how it will save money on the clean up. We will have plenty of time to track down who is responsible and have them pay later.
