For those of you that are on T-Mobile’s network and are a fan of the original Mytouch 3G will have a good replacement coming.

According to a leaked internal document from an anonymous source at Tmonews.com. T-Mobile will be releasing the Mytouch HD, which will be T-Mobile’s second phone to take advantage of T-Mobile HSPA+ network. The Mytouch HD is expected to have a 1Ghz dual processor and running Android 2.2. Although it doesn’t show whether or not it will have an HTC Sense user interface on top of Android 2.2. The handset will also have a 3.8-inch display, 5.0 MP camera and a VGA front face camera, 4GB of internal memory, 8Gb of pre-installed memory, which will be expandable to 32 GB via microSD.

The MytouchHD will feature video chat that will allow user’s to make video calls to other phone using the Qik application. Users will also be able to phone to PC video calls with Yahoo Messenger & Qik. The video chat feature can be used over T-Mobile’s 3G & HSPA+ network as well as over Wi-Fi.

The new handset seems to be very impressive. Between this phone and the T-Mobile G2 it will be really difficult to decide which phone to buy this holiday season. If any more information becomes available about the Mytouch HD I will let all of you know.

Well it seems like the guys at AndroidSpin has got their hands on a leaked image for T-Mobile’s handset line up for the remainder of the year. Now it is possible that this could be fake, but since the Motorola Charm was just announced and it’s listed in the line up it just might not be. According to the image a Dell netbook should be coming out between July & August. And the HTC Vanguard, which is due out in September, their is not a lot of information about the handset. There’s also an update going out to the Mytouch 3G,CLIQ & CLIQXT in August.

NPD numbers from March show that Blackberry is more likely to lose market share from Android then other companies. Since Google’s next version of their mobile operating system Android 2.2 aka froyo. Has a lot of features that business & enterprise customers are looking for, such as remote wipe, auto-discovery & Microsoft Exchange support and many other enterprise features that were shown off during Google I/O. More and more small & large business are using Google Applications such as Google Talk for their messaging needs.

It seems using Google’s Android operating system would be a logical choice for companies. Once business move away from Microsoft Exchange & Lotus Notes to Google’s could-based services, companies switching from Blackberry to Android based handsets would be much easier. With the Samsung Galaxy Q a QWERTY keyboard based Android phone that will be directly marketed toward Blackberry users.

According to a report by the Korea Times the Samsung Galaxy Q is directly targeted at the BlackBerry manufacture Canada’s Research In Motion. The Korea Times source stated “ It is Expected the Galaxy Q will pave the way for Samsung to eat up more shares in QWERTY smartphones in North America, where the Canadian company is leading the way”

According to Chiquita research Android is most popular on the Motorola Droid sold by Verizon Wireless. Which features a slide out QWERTY keyboard unlike the Blackberry, which has a fixed QWERTY keyboard. According to an email of a press event the Droid 2 is expected to be available June 23rd.

On June 19th T-Mobile’s celebrating father’s day by offering free phones to customers. The sale will only run on Saturday and starts at 8 a.m. through all retail & select retail partner locations. Customers will be able to get any phone they choose for free by signing up for a “family plan”, which is a plan that has at two lines of service on a single account. Current T-Mobile customers can convert a single user plan to a family plan by adding an extra line, or by adding lines to an existing family plan. You will only be able to get up to five free phones with a single-family plan. The promos will include T-Mobile HTC Mytouch 3G Slide & the Garminfone. The HTC Mytouch 3G Slide usually sells for $180 with a two-year contract and mail-in-rebate & the Garminfone sell for $200 on a two-year contract & mail-in-rebate. This has to be the most expensive promotion that a cell carrier has done.

Shaw Wu an analyst at Kaufman Bros. has stated in the article that “Currently, T-Mobile’s 3G service (UMTS/HSPA) supports 1700 MHz & 2100 MHz frequencies while AT&T supports 850 & 1900 MHz frequencies” He also stated that the “iPhone 4 & iPhone 3GS support’s 2100 MHz frequencies and, from our understanding, the technical hurdle to support T-Mobile would be minor compared to supporting CDMA technology at Verizon & Sprint.”

If Apple were to go with T-Mobile the company would not have to build a separate CDMA based phone. Since Verizon has 93 million subscribers if Apple were to go with
Verizon it would nearly double the iPhones customer base. Since T-Mobile only has about 34 million subscribers a deal with them would only increase the iPhone’s customer base by a third.

Shawn Wu also stated “It is notable that signing up both T-Mobile & Sprint would almost be the equivalent of signing with Verizon.” Shaw Wu also noted that Sprint Network is CDMA and would require a customized iPhone, just like Verizon. So if Apple were to sign with Sprint, it may as well sign one with Verizon.

Now I think this would be good for Apple as well as T-Mobile. Since T-Mobile offers a wide variety of smart phones from Android smartphones, BlackBerry, a Nokia smart phone. Having the iPhone would just increase the companies’ sales for both Apple & T-Mobile. And considering that T-Mobile is known for their customer service & cheap cellular plans, I think a lot of AT&T customers would come to T-Mobile. But in order for Apple to remain competitive in the smart phone market, I think they are going to have to open up the iPhone to all US cell providers.
The test were done in Philadelphia were both T-Mobile HSPA+ network & Sprints 4G network were available. Below is a chart showing the upload speeds, download speeds & latency of the two networks. According the article locations A-E was done in downtown Philadelphia & location F was in the Northeast of Philadelphia.

They also compared T-Mobile’s current 3G network with T-Mobile HSPA+ network using T-Mobiles webConnect Rocket USB stick. While using HSPA+ speeds where only 15% faster than T-Mobile current 3G network HSPA 7.2. T-Mobiles HSPA+ network was also tested against Sprints 3G & Verizon’s 3G networks. Which according to the chart below T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network is considerably faster than Sprint’s 3G & Verizon’s 3G networks. But only slightly faster than Sprint 4G (WiMax) network. Now keep in mind that these are real world test and not done by a marketing group. PcMag has also compared cellular networks from all 4 of the cell companies in various US regions. So tell me what do you think of the results of T-Mobiles HSPA+ network compared to other cell providers?

With the iPhone having 58.2% of the US mobile browser usage, Android having 22.7% of the US mobile browser usage & RIM having only 12.7% of the US mobile browser usage. Jobs also noted that the iPhone has 28% of the US smart phone market share. And RIM having 35%, Android having only 9 %, Windows Mobile having 19% of the US smart phone market share.

The most anticipated announcement & the most leaked device on the web was the iPhone 4. Which is only 9.3 mm thick that is 24% thinner then the iPhone 3GS. The iPhone 4 will have a front facing camera, a second mic for noise cancellation, a 5.0 MP camera with LED flash, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi (802.11n) & GPS. The device has the antennas built into its stainless steel frame for improved cell signal quality. Jobs also pointed out that the iPhone 4 would have what he calls “Retina Display”, which will allow the device to display more pixels. And give the users a shaper, clearer view of images & text on the phone. Apples own A4 processor will power the iPhone 4.

The device will use a micro SIM card to save space & will have a lager battery, which will offer up to 7 hours or 3G talk time, 6 hours browsing the web on 3G, 10 hours browsing over Wi-Fi, up to 10 hours of watching video, up to 40 hours of music & up to 300 hours of standby. The iPhone 4 will compatible with HSDPA & HSUPA networks for up to 7.2 Mbps download speeds & 5.8Mps upload speeds. The handset will have up to 32 GB of storage for your music & video. The camera on the iPhone will allow for 720p HD at 30 fps video recording. Apple has also created a version of the iMovie for the iPhone, which allow you to edit your video right from the device. iMovie for the iPhone will cost 4.99 on the App Store and is now available.

The most interesting feature of the iPhone 4 would have to be the announcement of FaceTime, which will allow for video calling. During the keynote Jobs demoed the feature by calling Jony Ivy the Senior Vice President of Industrial Design at Apple Inc. FaceTime works by using the front & rear camera to send video calls. And will automatically switch to the rear or front camera depending on which way the handset is held. Video calling will work in both portrait & landscape mode. Video calling will only work with other iPhone 4 owners and is only ran over Wi-Fi networks. FaceTime will be an open industry standard.

The iPhone 4 will come in two colors white & black and will cost $199 dollars for the 16GB model & $299 dollars for the 32 GB model. The Phone 4 is available for pre-orders starting June 15th & will be on sale June 24th in the US, France, Germany, UK & Japan. Apple will be adding 24 more countries in August & 44 more countries in September that will carry the iPhone 4. If you happen to have a contract with AT&T with your current iPhone you can get up to 6 months early eligibility to upgrade to the iPhone 4. And if your contract is up during 2010 you are eligible to upgrade to the iPhone 4. The iPhone 3GS & iPhone 3G will be sold at $99 dollars.

Jobs also introduced a new version of the iPhone operating system called iOS 4. The new operating system will have multitasking that will allow the user to run up to seven applications at once. iOS 4 will have “Folders” that will allow you to organize your applications on your home screen. By simply dragging applications on top of each other will create a drop down menu of all the applications. The iOS4 will have improvements to its Mail application allowing for multiple email accounts to be threaded to the application. Apple is allowing the user to choose what kind of search engine they want to use Google is still the default but now you can choose Bing or Yahoo to search the web.

The iOS4 will also have a version of iBooks. The iPhone version will have the same functions as the iPad version PDF reading, bookmarking, highlighting. If you buy an e-book from iBook using your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch you will only have to buy it once. The application will sync your notes, places, and bookmarks to all of your devices automatically & wirelessly for free. The iOS4 will be available for the iPhone 3GS, 3G & iPod Touch but will not support all the features that are supported on the iPhone 4.

Jobs also mentioned the current state of the App Store he stated that it’s a curated platform with 225,000 apps. Apple gets about 15 thousand apps & 95% of the applications are approved with in 7 days. The 5% that are not approved are rejected for the following three reasons. The first reason is the application doesn’t function as advertised by its developers. The second reason is the use of private API’s by the developers. And the third reason is the applications crashes, which in turn cause unsatisfied customers The App Store has had 5 Billion applications downloaded, which 70% of the revenue goes to developer. Apple has paid out one billion dollars in revenue to application developers.

Netflix, Activison & Zynga also announced applications for the iPhone. Netflix’s CEO Reed Hastings demoed Netflix for the iPhone. The application will allow you to download movies and watch them on the iPhone. The Netflix iPhone application is due out this summer. Zyanga the company that created ever so popular Facebook game Farmville has created an iPhone version. Using the iPhones push notifications to alert users when their crops are starting to die. Activision showed off Guitar Hero allowing you to use a swiping motion to strum each instrument.

Steve Jobs also talked about iAd Apple’s mobile advertising service. This service will allow application developers to earn money. And still create low cost & free applications for the iPhone. Apple has partnered with companies such as Nissian, Citi, AT&T, and GE & Liberty Mutual just to name some of the companies. Steve Jobs is looking at up to $60 million of ad dollars during the second half of the year, and 48% of the US mobile ad market.

I would have to say the most impressive announcement at WWDC 2010 would be the iPhone 4 & the iMovie. Although I was hoping to hear about Mac OS 10.7,but I guess we will have to wait until the next WWDC for that announcement. So tell me what do you think of the new iPhone? And will you get it? Well if you happen to subscribe to Metro PCS and want an Android phone you are in luck. An anonymous source at Androidguys.com has given some pics of the Android handset and some of its specs of the phone to the site. The handset will be by Motorola and will run android 2.1/Motoblur, have a 600Mhz processor, a 3 MP camera, and a 4-row QWERTY keyboard. The handset does look a lot like the T-Mobile Cliq. There’s still no information on the price & availability of the handset, but i’ll keep all of you posted on that.
Google Music will be a push-to-phone service that was announced during Google I/O. Techchunch has found the Google music logo on Google’s hosted service. I have also noticed that Googlemusic.com has also been registered as a domain from Google, since the Google Music logo URL has been taken down. According to the article the way Google Music works is the user could go to the Market online search for a song download the song. And the song would start to download over-the-air to the user’s Android based handset. This would work the same way for applications as well. Google has acquired Simplify Media, which would offer users a desktop application that would give you remote access to your DRM-free media on your Android based device.

If Google is going to do this service they might want to start launching it soon. Since Apple has bought the lala.com music service, which allows users to stream music online and buy songs. And there is a rumor that Apple is supposed to launch a cloud based version of iTunes this summer.

Google’s Chrome OS coming late this Fall.-

For those of you that follow technology news have probably have heard of Google’s Chrome operating system. And for those that may have never heard of Chrome OS let me explain it to you. Chrome is Google’s open source operating system that is design to work with web-based applications. Google’s Chrome operating system is built around the web browser with software ranging from video editing applications to photo editing applications. Since Chrome is based around the web browser, external severs will handle the computer processing tasks for applications.

According to Retures Google’s Chrome OS is coming out in late fall. And Google is eyeing Microsoft, as it’s main competitor in the desktop operating space. Microsoft own’s about 90% of the computer market share. In an attempt to shrug off Google’s open source operating system Microsoft stated that software developers would have to create different versions of the same application for different brands. Sundar Pichai Google head of the Chrome project responded to the statement from Microsoft by saying “ Chrome OS is one of the few future operating systems for which there are already millions of applications that work.” He also stated “You don’t need to redesign Gmail for it to work on Chrome. Facebook dose not need to write a new app for Chrome.”

Since the Chrome operating system is open source companies such as Acer could create their own versions of the software. While using the Chrome source code from Google to fit the companies needs. This is a way that the interface may differ from each company.

I guess this is similar to the way Android, Google’s mobile operating system’s user interface is different from each cell phone manufacture. For example HTC’s Sense user interface for Android is different from Motorola’s user interface for Android. But underneath the user interface is still the Android mobile operating system.

Today Motorola announced the Motorola FlipOut during a press event in Basingstoke UK. The Motorola FlipOut will feature Android 2.1 with Motorola’s MotoBlur user interface. The MotoBlur interface syncs with your contacts, messages, and photos. And also aggregates your Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, Gmail & email accounts on the handset’s home screen. The Motorola FlipOut design looks almost exactly like the Nokia Twist for Verizon.

The handset has a square pivot design with a 5-row QWERTY keyboard, a 3.0 MP camera & Bluetooth. The FlipOut will have Adobe Flash enabled in its web browser, which will allow the user to view Flash enabled websites. The handset will also feature “Crystal Talk” which improves voice quality & filters out back round noises by adding a second microphone. The FlipOut will also feature an improved media player, which will have full screen lyric support, integrated song ID & will also allow you to know what others around you are listening to. The Motorola FlipOut will be available in Europe in the Q2 of 2010.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FT9H8Ee_aRU&feature=player_embedded

I think this handset will be marketed mainly towards teenagers. Since the handset is mainly focused on social networking & not to mention the vast array of colors to choose from. So what do you think of the Motorola Flip Out?

Samsung i897 coming to AT&T
The Samsung i897 is going to be one of AT&T’s high end Android based phones. The tech specs of the device are a 4-inch AMOLED screen, Android 2.1 & a 5-megapixel camera. According to Androidguys the device could have a 1Ghz Snapdragon processor. The phones tech specs does resemble the Samsung Galaxy S, which is supposed to be released on all four major U.S. cell carriers. The source at Androidguys also stated “ I also noticed that there is the default Google search widget on the main page of the handset. Not sure if this is a big deal but I remember reading that the Backflip used Yahoo search instead of Google. Of course this is a developer handset so they still might go with yahoo in the end.”

So AT&T may not cripple the phone like they did with the Motorola Backflip and take a lot of the Google Mobile Apps out. This will in turn give customers a better experience of the Android operating system. So tell me what do you think of the Samsung i897? And how do you feel about AT&T crippling their Android handsets?

Well, if you happened to own the Samsung Behold 2 handset Samsung & T-Mobile USA has announced on Androidspin forums. The Samsung Behold 2 will be upgraded to Android 1.6 and no further. The update will allow Samsung Behold 2 owners to have Swype, an improved Media Player, improved Bluetooth & updated core Android applications.

While I know that the HTC Dream & HTC Magic can be rooted to run a ported version of Android 2.0. I am not sure if anyone has worked with the Samsung Behold 2 and ported higher versions of Android to it. So if you happened to own the Behold 2 how do you feel about this?
