We all thought exorcism and witchcraft was something in the movies or that happened a long time ago, like the Lizzie Borden case.  Unfortunately someone attempted exorcism on their children and the result was the death of two children.  Two women have been charged with murder Friday, Monifa Denise Sanford and Zakieya Latrice.

Two women have been charged in the recent stabbing deaths of two young children at a Germantown townhouse — in what Montgomery County police said was an attempt at an exorcism.

The Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said 1-year-old Norell N. Harris and 2-year-old Zyana Z. Harris suffered multiple stab wounds in Friday’s incident. Two other children, Taniya Harris, 5, and Martello Harris, 8, remained hospitalized, police said.

“Cases like this are heartbreaking,” county police chief Tom Manger said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victims along with the 911 operators, police officers, evidence technicians, and fire and EMS personnel that responded.”

What a sick and twisted thing these two have done.  Reports say they truly believed they were performing an exorcism.

How I Met Your Racism?

The creators of  “How I Met Your Mother” have apologized after they were accused of causing offense by including a “silly and unabashedly immature” homage to kung fu movies in the show.

During an episode that aired on Monday, Jason Segel’s character travels to China to train with three masters in the art of slapping.  His co-starts were dressed in Asian-themed costumes, which seemed to anger viewers on Twitter.  User’s were using the hashtag #HowIMetYourRacism to show their anger towards the scene.

In a series of posts on Twitter, Bays writes, “Hey guys, sorry this took so long. Craig and I want to say a few words about ?#HowIMetYourRacism… With Monday’s episode, we set out to make a silly and unabashedly immature homage to Kung Fu movies, a genre we’ve always loved … But along the way we offended people. We’re deeply sorry, and we’re grateful to everyone who spoke up to make us aware of it … We try to make a show that’s universal, that anyone can watch and enjoy. We fell short of that this week, and feel terrible about it … To everyone we offended, I hope we can regain your friendship, and end this series on a note of goodwill. Thanks.”

CBS News and UStream have teamed up to provide live coverage of the rescue of the miners in Chile. The miners are trapped about half a mile underground in a collapsed mine. Michael Douglas has a throat tumor.

A spokesperson for Michael Douglas has confirmed that a tumor has been discovered in Douglas’ throat and that eight weeks of radiation treatment and chemotherapy will follow. Doctors who are taking care of Michael Douglas report that they expect a full recovery from his treatment.

Michael Douglas is 65 years old an starred in the hit movie Wall Street.

In a statement released by Michael Douglas regarding the tumor in his throat and his treatment he said, “I am very optimistic!.”

Google is celebrating the 71st anniversary of The Wizard of Oz with a ‘Wizard of Oz’ Google Doodle logo.

Wow, I can’t believe The Wizard of Oz is now 71 years old. The movie was first produced back in 1939 and starred Judy Garland as Dorothy.

The Google logo is representing a scene from the film where Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion first see the Emerald City, the capital of the Land of Oz.

According to a Netflix job board posting, a future Nexflix Android app is in the making. According to the job posting, “Netflix is looking for a great engineer to help us build Instant Streaming client implementations on Android devices.” Netflix already has an iPhone app but it is less than desirable in the marketplace. The primary complaint right now is the Netflix app drains the battery too quickly.

According to Mashable, the Netflix job posting also mentions “experience with digital rights management (DRM) and “Experience with other mobile application platforms (e.g. iPhone/iPad).”

I think the iPad is primed for a highly efficient Netflix app that streams movies instantly. The iPhone, and any other Android type phone, may be challenged to pick up wide spread use because the screens are too small. But with the iPads 9.7 inch display, and potentially even HD, viewing will be much more pleasurable.

Samsung has come out strong with their lineup of Android powered mobile phones. The Samsung Vibrant on T-Mobile and the Samsung Captivate on AT&T are some of the best Android powered devices on the market.

In the hyper competitive market of mobile phones, carriers are having to find ways to distinguish themselves amongst the competition. Carriers are having to sell the exact same device, so typically carrier brand and reputation is the deciding factor.

But now that high end data phones from Android powered devices are coming to multiple carriers, the wireless providers are needing to be more creative on how to get attention from the consumers.

Frank Fazetta is surrounded by controversy and turmoil. Unfortunately, the majority of this stems from his family feuding over his estate estimated to be worth tens of millions of dollars.

One of Frank Frazetta’s more popular works of art is the ‘Conan the Destroyer’. And just recently, a private collector paid the Frank Frazetta family estate $1.5 million for the painting.

$1.5 million is the highest amount ever paid by someone for a Frank Fazetta art piece.

Frank Frazetta died in Florida at the age of 82. According to the AP, his iconic illustrations of Conan the Barbarian, Tarzan and other characters often graced comic books, album covers and movie posters.

In recent years, his children have fought over an estate estimated to be worth tens of millions of dollars.

The feud boiled over in December when Frank Frazetta Jr. used a backhoe to try to break into the artist’s museum in the Pocono Mountains.

Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Facebook (you may have heard of it), is becoming quite a hit on the big screen lately. The Social Network, a movie about Zuckerberg and the rise of Facebook, is set to be released on October 1st. But just prior to that, it is being reported that Mark Zuckerberg will be lending his voice – actually has already made the recordings – for the upcoming season of The Simpsons.

According to NYMag.com, in the episode, dubbed “Loan-A Lisa,” Lisa decides to help fund Nelson’s new bike company. While attending an entrepreneurs convention, the two encounter Zuckerberg, who reminds the kids just how many famous billionaires — including himself — have dropped out of school. The rest of the plot is a secret, but we’re pretty sure Zuckerberg then steals their idea for the bike company and ends up making another billion dollars. Look for the episode to air as soon as October, perhaps just in time for the Oct. 1 release of The Social Network.

Just yesterday, Facebook reached 500 million users. And to celebrate this great achievement, Mark Zuckerberg released a video and did an interview with Diane Sawyer.

People are going crazy in their search for Zsa Zsa Gabor. News is being reported from CNN that Zsa Zsa Gabor has fallen from her bed and broke her hip.

The story is that Zsa Zsa was lying in bed late Saturday night when her phone rang. Then, as she reached for her phone she fell out of bed and landed directly on her hip.

A call was placed to 911 and Zsa Zsa Gabor was rushed to the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles where she is expected to undergo surgery later today.

Justin Bieber Trumps Eclipse, Twilight Saga in Popularity (Video)

This year, June 30th carried heavy implications in the world of teenage girls within the United States.

1)  Justin Bieber’s My World tour kicked off in Hartford, Connecticut

2)  The Twilight Saga movie, Eclipse kicked off throughout the United States

So the epic battle of the day, and the question that MTV took to the streets was this – who more important on this day, June 30th, 2010? The answer may, or may not in fact surprise you.

One of the two pop-culture phenomena had to come out a winner, and Justin Bieber’s fans made their case, with the pop star coming out the clear champ.

“He is amazing,” Britney told MTV News, arguing that Bieber’s famous head of hair is so much better than Pattinson’s equally famous coif. “It’s just gorgeous.”

In addition to having that sugary-sweet voice, the girls had other important reasons for loving Bieber over the “Twilight Saga,” one of them being 24-year-old Pattinson’s age. “[Justin’s] amazing! He’s just amazing. Yes [he wins]. He’s more our age and Robert Pattinson is just older, so obviously, Justin Bieber,” Amanda said. Her pal, Nicky, agreed saying, “He’s our age.”

So there you have it folks – Justin Bieber comes out the clear, undisputed winner in the battle of for teenage girl’s attention on this fine summer day.

(From NYTimes) – “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” sunk its fangs into multiplexes on Wednesday morning, selling a record-setting $30 million in tickets for 12:01 a.m. shows.

“Eclipse,” the third film in the phenomenally popular series, beat the industry’s previous midnight record-holder, “The Twilight Saga: New Moon,” which opened to $26.3 million in November. “Eclipse” also set an Imax record for midnight grosses, selling over $1 million and beating “Transformers 2,” according to Hollywood.com, which compiles ticketing data.

(From NYPost.com) – “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” collected an estimated record $30 million for midnight showings Thursday night, and stands a good chance of topping the six-day July 4 extended weekend record of $180 million set by “Spider Man 2” — though probably not the $220 all-time six-day record held by “The Dark Knight.” Of course, “Eclipse” will benefit from greatly inflated ticket prices, including 3-D surcharges.

1. Jacob makes his entrance. Taylor Lautner, whom EW critic Owen Gleiberman described as “the young Matt Damon in the body of Marky Mark,” gets a classic turn-around shot. He’s wearing a shirt, and the ladies still went crazy. (To be fair, that T-shirt does fit him well.)

2. Jacob shows up shirtless at the Bella swap. Our first view of flesh. I’d argue this bit is more successful than the New Moon T-shirt removal after Bella’s motorcycle accident simply because this time, they did a better job of masking the fact that this Taylor Lautner Bicep Watch moment was presented solely for our benefit. Jacob wanted to annoy Edward with his hotness. I bought it.

3. Bella finally accepts Edward’s proposal. Were we cheering because we want them together…or because we wanted Edward to stop proposing?

4. Jacob uses a double entendre! In what could become the most talked about tent scenesince Brokeback Mountain, Jacob has to spend a night holding Bella to keep her from freezing — as Edward watches. “Let’s face it, I am hotter than you,” Jacob says. (This will likely be fans’ favorite Lautner line. I, however, am more partial to “I kissed Bella, and she broke her hand punching my face,” delivered dryly to Charlie.)

5. Bella asks Jacob to kiss her. It wasn’t as tortuous a turn-on as the slow lean bedroom kiss Bella shared with Edward in the first film, but this one definitely felt longer. And you wanted it to continue. Lautner is made to play action heroes who make time for a little romance. His first love scene will have the rewind numbers of Nipplegate.

6. Edward takes a bite out of someone. It feels wrong to say who, even with the spoiler alert issued above. So let’s just discuss how cool vampire deaths were in this movie. No blood. No dust. Just body parts breaking off like ice.

7. The credits roll. Honestly, this is the first Twilight film I would recommend to someone who hasn’t read the books.

There’s nothing better than a good Hollywood gossip story to accompany your Sunday evening (not…). And for some reason the web has become fascinated with the Amanda Bynes story.

As you may, or may not, know – Amanda Bynes is a 24 year old actress with the entire world literally at her feet and very bright future ahead of her in acting.

However, Amanda Bynes has announced via her Twitter profile that she is  that she’s quit acting to pursue other endeavors.

“I’ve never written the movies & tv shows I’ve been a part of,” the 24-year-old former actress writes.

“I’ve only acted like the characters the producers or directors wanted me to play. Being an actress isn’t as fun as it may seem. If I don’t love something anymore I stop doing it. I don’t love acting anymore so I’ve stopped doing it.”

Amanda Bynes continues in her Twitter profile,  “I know 24 is a young age to retire but you heard it here first I’ve #retired.”

OAK BROOK, Ill. (June  4, 2010) McDonald’s USA is recalling an estimated 12 million “Shrek Forever After” promotional drinking glasses after learning the designs on the cups contained cadmium, a known carcinogen.

McDonald’s began selling the 16-ounce glasses May 21. After collaborating with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the fast-food company determined “in an abundance of caution” that a recall was necessary, even though an independent laboratory determined the glasses to be nontoxic and in compliance with all federal and state requirements for levels of cadmium in manufactured products.

“When the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission approached McDonald’s about cadmium in their current movie-themed drinking glasses, the company responded quickly, agreed to cooperate fully and acted on the side of caution,” said Scott Wolfson, the CPSC’s director of the Office of Information and Public Affairs. “The glasses have far less cadmium than the children’s metal jewelry that CPSC has previously recalled.”

In January, CPSC led a recall of children’s jewelry manufactured in China and sold in such American retailers as Walmart and Dollar N More. Those products had replaced typical lead with as much as 91 percent cadmium, which also is found in cigarette smoke and has been linked to certain kidney and lung ailments.

McDonald’s will begin posting instructions June 8 on a special microsite, www.mcdonalds.com/glasses, for how customers can return the Shrek glasses and obtain a refund. Concerned customers also may call (800) 244-6227 for more information.

“McDonald’s has a longstanding, cooperative relationship with the CPSC and continues to follow their lead as testing protocols and new scientific information become available,” the company said in a statement.

No other promotional glassware is involved in the recall, McDonald’s said.

Oak Brook-based McDonald’s operates or franchises more than 14,000 quick-service restaurants in the United States.

Little did I realize when I turned 60 that I would be celebrating along with a very famous fellow and his older brothers.

Hot Tamales (one of my favorite filling extractors ) is celebrating its 60 birthday/anniversary, and its older brothers, Mike and Ike are celebrating their 70th.

Who could forget the trips to the theater and stopping off at the lobby refreshment stand to pick up a Coke, some popcorn, and a box of Hot Tamales or Mike and Ike?  And when I was a kid, you could get all three and the movie ticket for a quarter (That’s 25 cents!).

Crunk.  It sounds like a character name in a Disney Movie.
