A well-known company Apple is launching a brand new program called Apple Watch Connected. This program will offer its users many different tracking workouts with Apple Watch. Also, the design of the program is to allow all users better support of the GymKit once they apply.
This is a trustworthy sign that Apple is pushing more and more into areas of health and fitness. And, as we can all agree, it’s for the best. They are also striving towards improving digital services and wearable technology as well.
Simply speaking, the Apple Watch Connected is a specially designed program. It allows participating gyms to offer their users an ability to track workouts. Also, they can benefit from rewards as well.

Reward Program – Bonuses and Benefits

It’s all pretty much summed up perfectly since all the gyms that are part of the program will offer an iOS and Apple Watch app. This will then promote into a reward program called Earn with Watch which is supports Apple Pay in all of their facilities.
Also, Apple Watch users will be able to experience all sorts of bonuses and benefits via this app. From meeting fitness goals, down to other benefits as well, users will be able to choose. A variety of bonuses await Apple Watch wearers. However, it all depends on the gym participation.
It’s also important to mention that Apple Watch wearers are not in the obligation to work out exactly at the gym they get rewards. Any kind of exercise will be counted in a program’s fitness goals as long as the Apple Watch wearer do it.

Not the Only One – Certainly the best One

Furthermore, Apple and its early partners were also launching the program, but on a small scale since they are not that big on the market. For example, Orangetheory is offering something similar in the two most noticeable places in New York City, Astor Place, and SoHo. Next, the YMCA is doing the same but at the St. Paul Midway location in Minnesota. It’s all coming down to a very strong conclusion, Improving Fitness and Health programs is worth it.
We can all agree that Apple is aggressively pushing into the whole fitness and health program. This is a great idea for everyone who is an Apple Watch wearer and loves fitness. This new program will change a lot in this field, it’s a guarantee.

In the start, Facebook’s iOS app will load the instant articles for its users. An Android app is in the making for instant articles.
The New York Times announced that it is going in the Facebook’s publishers program with ‘open eyes’. He was pointing out towards the skepticism regarding the threats to advertisers from the latest Facebook program.

Buzzfeed President said that instead of dictating its terms, Facebook is offering complete customization, even ‘sponsored articles’; so there is nothing to worry about.

RadioShack is facing a tough legal battle regarding its plans to sell its consumer information to pay its creditors after bankruptcy. RadioShack, the famous electronics retailer which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy back in February is still persisting that it will sell the user data as it is a major asset of the company. State of Texas is vehemently opposing the auction of personally identifiable information (PII) of around 100 million RadioShack customers. The state has ordered U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware to find out the details regarding the customer information which RadioShack intends to sell. But RadioShack is unmoved despite of the stir that rattled the media after its decision to sell user data, which clearly puts private information of millions of its customers out in the public.

RadioShack has asked the bankruptcy court for the approval of second round of its auction, which will include the auction of consumer data.

In the first round of auction, RadioShack sold 1,700 of its stores to the famous hedge fund Standard General, which is one of the creditors of RadioShack.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed a petition in the court on 1st April, arguing that RadioShack’s decision to sell user data clearly contradicts the promises it made with its consumers.

“We urge RadioShack to make a blanket vow that it will live up to the assurances it provided 117 million customers and entirely rule out any such sale in the future,” said Paxton.

RadioShack’s privacy policy written on its official websites clearly states that the company will not use the personal information of its customers for any purpose other than the business and services in which the company deals.

“Information about you specifically will not be used for any purpose other than to carry out the services you requested from RadioShack and its affiliates. All of our affiliates have agreed to maintain the security and confidentiality of the information we provide to them,” claims RadioShack in its online privacy policy statement.

Last Month, the bankruptcy court ordered the appointment of a consumer privacy ombudsman to look further into the details of a possible sale of PII by RadioShack. RadioShack vowed to assist and work with the ombudsman.

It is also important to note that RadioShack hasn’t declared officially about its plans to sell its user data, but the company silently listed the customer information as its asset during auction. This is also stated on the Hilco Streambank’s website, the intermediary for RadioShack.

RadioShack’s plans to sell user data and get money to pay its creditors are hard to be achieved, keeping in view the massive user data privacy awareness and campaigns in the modern tech industry. Texas is not the only state giving tough time to RadioShack. Last month, New York’s state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced that his office will take necessary action if RadioShack attempts to sell the private data of millions of users.

Facebook is planning to launch its exclusive news service using which, famous news websites will be able to host content directly on Facebook platform rather than just pasting links for sharing. The New York Times published a report and said that Facebook is in talks with famous publishers like Buzzfeed, The New York Times, Times, National Geographic and others. More than a dozen major news powerhouses have expressed their interest. The source claims that the Facebook exclusive news and content service will be launched in next several months.

This feature, if culminated, will be huge and a threat to Google. Google is the current juggernaut in content hosting, publishing and ads. All the major platforms strive to get featured in Google news. But Facebook news and content service will split this monopoly.

Facebook is tapping in a plethora of domains. It is trying to launch exclusive calling services, ads platform, a complete gaming and entertainment platform in its Facebook Messenger and much more. The company is relentless and tirelessly working to get deals with new companies to craft and ecosystem.

Advertisers and publishers will have to reconsider their complete content strategies and marketing campaigns if Facebook wins the deals with major websites. Facebook will turn out to be a major news platform and services. A few months back, Facebook launched its news fire page, but couldn’t get much attention from the viewers.

When Apple announced its payment system “Apple Pay”, almost all the major banks in the US said that it is a positive step. JPMorgan Chase, WellsFargo, Citigroup, Bank of American and American Express even lined up in order to give support for Apple Pay NFC backed payment method. But now, the media is reporting a number of fraud cases reported by banks. Banks are now skeptical about Apple Pay’s security. Security is the single most important factor in the modern day payments. ART hacks and credit card information breaches are becoming common and even a single fraud case can tarnish Apple Pay’s user trust.

An article on the New York Times reported that it is true that fraud cases are being reported in the media, but banks are to be asked about this and not the Apple Pay.

The source quoted Cherian Abraham, a payment industry experts, who says that Apple Pay fraud is ‘growing like a weed’. Apple Pay hasn’t even started rolling out all over the country and users are just gearing up to sign-up for the new payment system. Fraud report at this time can kill Apple Payment system before it even gets mainstream.

The source said that Apple has made it practically impossible to breach credit card information via Apple Pay. When an Apple Pay transaction takes place, the vendor sees a new, at-the-sport-generated credit card number and the actual customer data never gets revealed. This means that the fault is at the Banks’ end. Banks, in a hurry to get signed-up for customers’ default credit card bank for Apple Pay service, failed to issue credit cards with improved security and layers. This problem is making it difficult for them to differentiate between intruders and real Apple Pay users.

The accident was the deadliest in the Metro-North railroads 32-year old history claiming the lives of seven people, forced evacuation of thousands and injured a dozen others.

The black Jeep Cherokee vehicle was smashed by the train Commerce Street in Valhalla at around 6:30pm. Reports were confirmed by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Justin Kaback was not aware that the commuter train he was riding would kill the driver, a woman who had stopped her Mercedes SUV in the tracks and five other people.

“This is truly ugly and brutal sight,” said Gov Andrew M. Cuomo after he toured the city late Tuesday. Fifteen people were injured, ” about nine” seriously he added. Additional reports state that the train pushed the SUV to about 400 feet causing an explosion that made the third rail of the said track go passed the front train car.

Around 400 passengers, were evacuated from the scene and were taken to the nearby rock climbing gym to get shelter. From here the passengers were to be taken to a nearby station by bus, said Aaron Donovan spokesman for the authority. Those with injuries, about ten with serious injuries and two with not life threatening injuries were rushed to local hospitals, Rob Astorino said.

Eyewitness report from Michael McGuinn a worker at a nearby gym said he saw the train crash from the front followed by sparks and then an enormous fire. Moments later he heard passengers scream and moan. “I just saw people dazed in addition confused,” he said. “They all looked shell shocked.”

“We will work closely with the NTSB and local officials to determine the exact cause of this accident, and work to ensure such incidents are not repeated,” said Joseph Giulietti the Metro-North Railroad President in a statement to newsrooms.
Investigations are ongoing to get to know its actual cause. These are been done by National Transportation Safety Board inspectors.

“All indications from the MTA point that it was not an issue with the tracks. Investigations are ongoing to see whether it was human error” said Astorino in a statement.

Predicting the most successful technology of 2014 is more art than science, but, in examining the trends, some interesting observations present themselves. One is the effort to make security both convenient and effective. The second is the rise of firms with as much interest in their social agendas as in their bottom lines.

However, the trend with the most potential long-term impact is the increasing number of women that either head or hold high senior positions in technology companies. It is part of a trend in which female entrepreneurs are increasingly desirable targets for venture capitalists. They still get a relatively small slice of the venture capital pie, but the size of the 2013 slice was 20 percent bigger than that of 2012.

These nine people will help shape the world of technology in 2014.

Francisco Aguilar and David Young

Two M.I.T. business school alumni may make rescue operations dramatically safer for first responders everywhere. Aguilar and Young founded Bounce Imaging Inc. while working on their M.B.A.s.

Their signature product, the Bounce Imaging Explorer, is a throwable camera that is the size of a baseball. Lenses and sensors point in six directions, making precision placement unnecessary. However it lands, responders can get pictures and data on potential hazards such as carbon monoxide and radiation levels.

The Bounce Imaging Explorer makes gathering data on active crime scenes, combat zones, and disasters such as fires or explosions far less risky to first responders than earlier options. It’s the kind of product that invites new and different applications, but its primary benefit will always lie in the number of lives it saves.

Drago Bojkov

Bojkov is an executive with LifeLogger, a company that specializes in “augmented memory.” LifeLogger users record their lives with the aid of a lightweight, wearable streaming video device. LifeLogger technology includes the ability to recognize words that appear on signs, aiding place memory. It is also able to tag place names to images and associate names with faces. Links to a cloud-sharing service let LifeLogger users access these recordings from almost anywhere.

LifeLogger technology has potential for educational and business applications as well. For example, teachers could log a museum visit for use by absent students; businesses could log their processes for training and audit purposes.

Rana el Kaliouby and Rosalind Picard

El Kaliouby and Picard are the founders of Affectiva, a company that literally brings a new face to the art of gauging consumer opinion.

Affectiva’s technology uses facial-recognition technology to assess non-verbal responses to a product. In particular, it measures the consumer’s emotional response. Participants in Affectiva surveys use a webcam to record their reactions to client products. Once the survey is over, participants can either share their responses or disconnect the webcam. Roughly half choose to share.

The company plans to introduce its Affdex survey software to the smartphone market with an app development kit for Apple’s iOS.

Leila Janah

Leila Janah sees her Samasource startup as her way of using technology to fight poverty worldwide.

In its first six years, Samasource built a 4,000-person workforce and contracts worth $5 million. It has brought living wages to impoverished workers in places like sub-Sahara Africa, southern Asia, and the Caribbean by providing opportunities in data augmentation, digital transcription, and machine learning.

These opportunities build skill sets, provide part-time income and jobs to American community college students, and double the incomes of poverty-strapped employees abroad.

Tej Kohli

Kohli made his fortune in technology with Grafix Softech, a payment processing firm with its headquarters in Costa Rica.

Since 2005, Kohli has used his Tej Kohli Foundation to raise the living standards of poor women and children. Much of the foundation’s work takes place in India, where long-standing social taboos limit women’s access to education. Kohli aims to improve poor children’s standard of living by providing their mothers with educational opportunities they otherwise might not have, in addition to improving their quality of food, water, and housing.

Another major Foundation project is fighting blindness in India by providing corneal transplants and vision care.

Michelle Rowley

Many technology professionals used books, websites, and friends to pick up skills on their own. Michelle Rowley was one of them, but she realized that making more structured training available more widely would bring the benefits of a technical career to those who had traditionally not sought one: women. As the executive director of Code Scouts, Rowley seeks to bring the diversity that has penetrated much of the working world to the male-dominated world of programming.

Code Scouts began in Portland, Oregon, but looks to expand. There has already been interest from groups in major cities such as Austin, London, New York, and San Francisco. In years to come, Code Scouts may well bring a woman’s touch to software development worldwide.

Caryn Seidman-Becker

Airport security lines are the bane of many travelers’ existence. Caryn Seidman-Becker’s rescue of biometrics company Clear may make airport security less burdensome. Members use a card that incorporates a biometric chip to confirm their identities at company-supplied kiosks.

Clear had a promising start, with 200,000 members, about 12 airports under contract, and $75 million in venture capital, but the theft of a laptop holding customer data, $33 million of debt, and a declining economy led to bankruptcy in 2009.

Seidman-Becker, however, took control of Clear after the Algood Holdings investment firm bought the company in 2010. From there she has battled to re-establish the brand and rebuild confidence with customers, airports, and the Transportation Security Agency. It’s working, between 2010 and 2013 membership grew from 200,000 to 250,000. Airport participation stands at nine.

If swiping a biometric card to get through airport security becomes widespread, travelers will have Caryn Seidman-Becker to thank.

Many of these leaders will not grab headlines. With the possible exceptions of LifeLogger and Clear membership, they don’t represent products with mass market appeal. But these leaders’ impact will leave its mark on a broader scale. Their legacy, whether through risk-reducing devices or economic opportunities, is better quality of life.

Kang Wong, 84, was jaywalking on New York City’s Upper West Side on Sunday when police stopped him and attempted to issue him a ticket for the time-honored infraction among New Yorkers. Not too long after, Kang was in the hospital then sent to jail. The New York Post reported Kang Wong tried to walk away during the ticket and didn’t speak English.

“The guy didn’t seem to speak English. The cop walked him over to the Citibank [where the officer] stood him up against the wall and was trying to write him a ticket,” Fordham University law student Ian King, 24, told the Post.

“The man didn’t seem to understand, and he started walking away,” King continued. “The cop tried to pull him back, and that’s when he began to struggle with the cop.”

“As soon as he pushed the cop, it was like cops started running in from everywhere,” King added.

Kang Wong’s son wen to the police station where he was held and apparently the cops were giving him the runaround not telling him what the charges were.

“The cops are playing games. They won’t tell me what he’s being charged with,” the son initially told reporters.

After learning that his father’s arrest stemmed from a jaywalking incident, the son said, “Oh, great! Beating up on an 84-year-old man for jaywalking.”

Wong’s son added that that police prevented him from seeing his hospitalized 84-year-old father until 10 p.m. Sunday, referring to him as a “prisoner,” while adding that the family “will probably press charges.”

Dmitriy Kanarikov, 35, allegedly threw his toddler, and then himself to their deaths 52 floors from the roof of a skyscraper.

Why Dmitriy threw himself off the rough with his son is a question no one will know. Appartently he was constantly fighting with his estranged wife about custody of his child. One source says they would meet in public places to drop their son off because their relationship was so bad.

The 35-year-old man, Dmitriy Kanarikov, died after jumping from the Lincoln Square tower at 12:05 p.m. The red-haired tot, Kirill, dressed in Christmas pajamas, died moments later at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital, cops said.

This incident happened just three months after he posted on Facebook:

“I want to be the best dad and husband — nothing is more important to me right now,” Kanarikov wrote.

Perhaps the most awaited technological accessory of the year, Google Glass now moves a step ahead by finding its use in short stop-motion films. Tu Uthaisri, a filmmaker presently working at Google Creative Lab, New York, shot about 1,000 photos with google glass, to create the stop motion film “Catch: A Handimation Through Glass.”. The film shows in animated form, the appearance, disappearance, and reappearance of a contact number written on the palm of hand with red ink. The two-and-a-half-minute video, shot entirely with Google Glass, shows various animated movements in a real-life setting, with a background jazz by Jeremy Turner. The video, currently being one of the most trended one in google, seemed to have come out with the interesting and inventive aspect of the glass. It has already received praises from the impressed viewers on youtube.

Google Glass, primarily a pair of slim metal eyeglass frames fitted with a compact computer, had been one of the most influential technical achievement by Google in recent times. The metallic frames is a little thickened on one side where the camera, battery, motion sensors, wireless connection to reach the Internet, and other electronics are fitted. Though it is claimed by the company to give a first person experience, along with voice command application while taking photos or videos, the product has already received complains of high battery drainage while shooting any video. The users of this glass have reported total battery drainage while shooting a video of thirty minutes duration. Further, the camera being five mega pixel only, the potential buyers have expressed ambiguity in buying this expensive product. To make Google Glass more interesting to consumers, Google plans to include some useful applications such as sharing videos in real time, inbuilt navigation etc. However, it will be a challenge for the company to outweigh the existing smart phones and make this product an interesting buy for the consumers. Nonetheless, this stop-motion film seems to an interesting effort to increase its visibility and make Google Glass the most talked-about technological accessory in present times.

With mobile phone theft growing into a national epidemic – 1 in 3 robberies in the U.S. involve phones, per the Federal Communications Commission – cell phone manufacturers such as Apple and Samsung have suggested the introduction of a “kill” switch that would disable a stolen device. However, according to San Francisco District Attorney George Gascon, service providers including AT&T Inc., Verizon Wireless, US Cellular, Sprint. and T-Mobile ordered the removal of a pre-installed anti-theft software called Absolute LoJack, prior to shipment of Samsung’s phones earlier this year. Wireless carriers contend that the kill switch leave customers exposed to the risk of hackers shutting down users’ mobiles remotely.

The selling of stolen smartphones is becoming quite a lucrative business, particularly in larger urban areas such as San Francisco and Washington DC, where they account for 40%, or more, of total robberies. They are then sold on the streets for hundreds of dollars to a customer base that is only concerned with the savings realized against much higher in-store retail prices. In 2012, roughly 174 million mobile phones were sold in the United States alone, amounting to nearly $69 billion in sales. New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman recently cited a June study indicating that stolen phones cost consumers over $30 billion last year alone. Technology, lawmakers contend, is a simple fix to this growing trend. Chuck Wexler, executive director of the Police Executive Research Forum, points to sharp declines in automobile theft the past several years, due to increased use of technology to catch and deter thieves, as proof that technological solutions would likely have a great impact.

A technological solution, says Gascon, is cheaper than criminal solution because it saves taxpayers the expense of prosecuting and jailing would-be criminals . He adds, “We know that the technology can be developed to prevent this. This is more about social responsibility than economic gain.”

Something tells me we’ll be seeing Jeter back at short stop for the next 3 years.

What do you think?

Even though I’ve been of the opinion that Verizon and AT&T could easily catch up to Sprint’s 4G coverage area, I’m starting to think that Sprint is doing a great job of positioning themselves for the 4G battle that lays ahead. 55 markets, to include New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, puts Sprint in a pretty good position in the 4G coverage market.

So what do you think about Sprint’s 4G coverage and expansion?

Jets receiver Braylon Edwards was arrested Tuesday morning for driving drunk in Manhattan. The arrest took place at 34th and 12th at approximately 5:15am Tuesday morning and Braylon Edwards was charged with DWI. The reported level of intoxication was that Edwards blew a .16 on the breathalyzer test – double the New York State’s legal limit of .08 (not good for Braylon Edwards).

Ironically, the person in charge of Braylon Edwards’ Twitter account wasn’t aware of the arrest because at around 8 a.m. (3 hours after his arrest), the following update was posted on Twitter:

Clearwire, Sprint’s exclusive 4G carrier, has confirmed with CNET that 4G coverage is about to hit New York City, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. The official term they used to describe the 4G coverage in these large metro areas is “operational readiness activities”.

Some people in New York have already reported intermitent 4G activity from Clearwire and you can expect that others from LA and San Francisco will start reported activity as well.

This is a huge step for Sprint as the competition for 4G coverage heats up. Verizon and AT&T will undoubtedly be bringing 4G coverage to these large metro areas. And with Sprint already there, it could help them compete when these larger carriers bring 4G online.

In what appears to be an accidental death, Nicole John, 17 year old daughter of U.S. ambassador to Thailand, fell 22 stories to her death in New York City. It appears that Nicole John may have been trying to get out on a ledge to take pictures when she fell to her death from the top floor of a Manhattan apartment complex. The incident occurred at 4:15am from the 25th floor of Herald Towers. Her body was found on a third floor ledge with a camera close by. Apparently there was a party going on in the apartment and a man associated with Nicole John was arrested for serving alcohol to a minor. However, John was in possession of a fake id that said she was 22 or 23 years old.

Verizon is expected to take a much different approach to bringing 4G online than Sprint. Sprint took, and continues to take, a slow reserved roll out of their WiMax 4G coverage. Smaller cities, smaller markets, make it easier I suppose for Sprint to manage and learn how to build their 4G networks. Verizon, however, is rumored to take a much more aggressive approach with their 4G network. Cities such as San Francisco, Dallas/Fort Worth, Atlanta, and yes… New York City, are expected to be up to bat first with Verizon’s 4G network. Verizon’s 4G speed of 12 Mbps is expected to cover three quarters of their current service map by April 2012, and all of the Verizon 3G coverage by 2013.

On Monday it was reported that China has passed Japan as the second largest economy in the world, behind the United States. China’s economy is growing so quickly that some experts believe they will actually surpass the United States to become the number one economy globally by the year 2013.

China’s economy is reportedly valued at about $1.33 trillion, and on Monday Tokyo said that Japan’s economy was valued at approximately $1.28 trillion. The United States gross domestic product was valued at approximately $14 trillion in 2009.

So how has China risen to such an economic powerhouse? Aren’t they a Communist country and isn’t capitalism suppose to be supreme? I don’t really understand this to be completely honest with you.

Just five years ago, China’s gross domestic product was about $2.3 trillion, about half of Japan’s. So in the last 5 years alone, they have caught up with, and surpassed Japan’s gross domestic product.

Again, I don’t get it…

And yet while the United States and European Union are struggling in the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression, China’s economy rages ahead.

Can someone help me out here with this…

Sprint says they are testing 4G coverage in New York City, and people are even reporting occasional 4G connections throughout Manhattan. But the biggest question is this – who will be the first carrier to actually deliver 4G to The Big Apple?

New York City is a huge market with millions of mobile data customers. From the iPhone, iPad, and now the emerging Android tablets, NYC is sure to be one of the highest demand cities for 4G speed.

Yet even though Sprint says they are currently testing their 4G connectivity in New York City, there are two other carriers that have remained relatively silent on the issue – and that this Verizon and AT&T.

Certainly Verizon or AT&T could allocate more resources to bringing 4G to NYC. And I’m wondering if one of them, or both, are secretly working behind the scenes on bringing 4G to the New York metro area.

If this is the case, then Sprint better be pushing hard right now to bring 4G online in New York, or else any day now we could see a new release from Verizon or AT&T that 4G is now online.

Or better yet, we could see a 4G satellite launched that will put the United States under one big 4G cloud. Then the whole “who can bring 4G coverage to New York City” debate will be a moot point.

None of which would be good for Sprint!

Although the reports are sporadic, there are reports nonetheless that 4G is being picked up by various Sprint customers at various locations throughout New York City.

New York City is a major hub of cell phone activity in the United States – perhaps the biggest hub – and Sprint 4G showing up in this market could mean a big boost in Sprint’s customer acquisition and expansion of market place. This is especially true if Sprint can be the first to arrive in the New York market.

Know Your Cell reached out to a Sprint spokesperson for comment and was reassured that 4G service has not yet launched in New York:

We have not launched 4G in NYC yet. As they have been recently, customers may continue to stumble across 4G from time to time in NYC as we work to build, test and optimize the network.

So are we close to seeing 4G arrive in the NYC market, and will Sprint be the first one to arrive on the scene?

This is important (for Sprint anyway).

Rush Limbaugh posted his wedding photos to his Facebook page on Wednesday setting off a flurry of comments and criticisms.

A lot of the comments on Rush’s wedding photos were “congratulatory” but some were highly critical.

The criticism is primarily due to Elton John performing at his wedding. Since Elton John is a supporter of same sex marriages, people are starting to question Rush’s private life compared to his radio show host personality which is obviously very conservative.

Rush Limbaugh married 33 year old Kathryn Rogers, making this his fourth marriage.

The reception was held at the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida and guests included the lies of former Bush advisor Karl Rove, Fox News commentator Sean Hannity, former New York City Mayor Rudy Guiliani, and former Clinton advisor James Carville and his wife, Republican Mary Matalin.

Where’s the 4G coverage in New York?

I just had someone post a comment on one of the articles I wrote about Sprint’s 4G coverage.

The question was this:

“are these right there should new york come on”

And I thought – you know what… great question!

Why in the world has Sprint left out the biggest city in the United States from their 4G coverage?

Is it because of New York politics?

Does Sprint not have enough resources to move into a market like New York?

There’s has to be something that is keeping them from covering New York in 4G.

But yet cities like this DO get 4G coverage:

Lancaster, Pennsylvania

Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

Reading, Pennsylvania

I mean really… Reading, PA gets it but New York City is left out?

There’s got to be something more going on here that Spring isn’t telling us.

Any thoughts?

You would think that New York City would be leading the way with this, but after nearly 3 years of planning, New York’s subway system will be getting wifi and mobile phone service.

New York City is now taking steps to give subway riders something that people in Berlin, Singapore, and Australia have had for quite sometime – access to wifi and cell phone service.

The project was launched back in 2007, but the company awarded the contract lost financial backing during the recession. Now the company had new financial support and expect to be done with the project by 2017.

With the fact that AT&T has supplied Time Square with free WiFi access, and now the subway system in New York, I don’t think it will be long before WiFi becomes ubiquitous.

Take this thought one step further and look at the introduction to a 4G satellite that will cover the entire United States, and you’re now looking at WiFi expansion efforts as near frivolous activities.

I’m predicting that sooner rather than later, internet connectivity will be everywhere, for everyone, and for every device.

And it will be free!

All of this will make devices like tablets, the iPad, etc… even more appealing and more widely used.

Welcome to the age of the tablet device!
