Samsung’s new Game Recorder + app lets you record your screen while playing any game. So next time you make new records on Candy Crush, you won’t need to make empty claims as you will have a video proof to brag about it in your friends. Game Recorder + also gives an opportunity to add a video commentary by turning on your front facing camera and mic.

Once installed, the app gives a floating option on your screen using which, you can turn on the camera, recording and mic anytime you want in any game you play. You can record the screen while adding the video using your camera. It will also record your voice. So the game recorder + is pretty much a powerful experience recorder which will track and record your whole game play experience.

The app is available for download for free from Samsung’s app store in Samsung’s Galaxy devices. The app supports Jelly Beans and above. You can download Game Recorder + in Samsung S3, S4, S5, S6, all Note devices and many more Samsung flagship devices.

Samsung has regained its position as the top smartphone seller in the world. Samsung crossed Apple in the first quarter this year with a huge margin. A report from IDC said that Samsung sold around 82.4 million smartphones in the first three months of 2015, which makes around 25% market share. Samsung’s victory is because of the massive sales from the emerging markets, where people prefer cheap Android phones and the market penetration of Apple devices is low.

Apple sold 61.2 million iPhone in first three months of the current year. This gives is around 18% of the market share. Last year, Apple was on the top and Samsung was ranked on the second position by IDC. However, Samsung’s growth rates declined by 7%, but it still is the number one phone seller in the world.

Lenovo, Huawei and LG are the next players in line.

It is important to note that when it comes to growth rate, Apple beats Samsung. Apple smartphone sales grew by 40% year over year.

The smartphone market in the world experienced a 17% growth, which shows the massive potential and never-ending sales of the phones around the world.

Microsoft is still struggling in the mobile phone sector. IDC didn’t even mention it in the top smartphone players. Other reports suggest that Microsoft sold around 8 million smartphones in one quarter, which is half of the total phones sold by Huawei.

Everyone remembers the #Bendgate rant, right? The social media trial of Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus when a number of users reported that their iPhone 6 Plus phones are bending in their pockets. Apple suffered a lot of humiliation and people said that the company is not making the strong hardware. Do you know which company was at the frontline in trolling Apple? Samsung. But a new experiment has proved that Samsung’s new phone Galaxy S6 also bends at the same pressure as iPhone 6 does.

SquareTrade, an electronics insurance company published a video that went viral. Apple fans took this video as a treat because they finally got a chance to prove their point which they were making since months. Samsung, Apple and HTC’s latest phones were put to a pressure test by SquareTrade. The results depict that all the new phones from the famous companies bend and break at the same pressure (110 lbs).

When Bendgate scandal was trending in the social media and people were taking Apple for a ride, the Cupertino company insisted that no phone could bear the massive pressures and there is nothing wrong with the design of iPhone 6 Plus. But no heed was paid. But the new video will certainly make Samsung and HTC fans think.

Apple has finally crossed Samsung in the long, grueling race which is continuing since years. In Q4 2014, Apple sold 74.8 million smartphones whereas Samsung sold around 73 million smartphones. Apple also reported the biggest ever profit in a quarter ever: $18 billion. Apple is continuing to take the market by storm. The company has the highest market cap and on its way to be the first company in the US with a market cap of $1 trillion. Samsung on the other hand is struggling because of rising smartphone players like Xiaomi, Microsoft, HP and Sony.

According to Gartner, Apple has around 20.4% market share in the overall phone market. Samsung’s share is on the decline and in Q4 2014, Samsung market share went to 19%. The reason behind the loss in the market share of Samsung is its lack of a solid product strategy. Gartner recommends Samsung to follow an ecosystem approach like Apple. Samsung must develop its own apps, software, hardware and services to garner a wide customer base.

But Samsung was the biggest phone vendor in 2014, beating Apple by a larger different. Samsung shipped 307.5 million smartphones whereas Apple shipped 191.4 million smartphones in 2014. But in Q4, things changed drastically, thanks to the Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Customers around the world were waiting for a big-sized phone from Apple. Samsung had the edge in the market because of its large screen phones. When Apple launched big phones, sales of Samsung tumbled. But the complete picture will come out in one or two quarters from now as the iPhone 6 sales come to normal.

Google has announced that it is working on a new mobile payment system ‘Android Pay’ which will help the developers and companies to build different secure payment methods. Speaking in the Mobile World Congress, Google’s Product chief, Sundar Pichai said that Android Pay will not be a device or an ecosystem, it will be an API layer using which, companies and developers across the globe can get benefits.

The battle of payment systems is heating up. After Apple Pay, a number of tech giants have landed the payments domain.

Android Pay will open many domains for the payment industry but with a lot of security threats. Android has been a victim of a plethora of hack attacks because of its open source nature. Apple, on the other hand crafts its products and services in an ecosystem which makes it much secure as compared to other platforms.

Pichai said that Google Wallet will continue to be a separate service. It will not be merged with Android Pay. He said that Android Pay will start from NFC and the company will extend this service to hardware, biometric systems in the future. He dodged the question about the competition of Google and Samsung as Samsung has given NFC payment option in its recently launched Samsung Galaxy S6. Google’s executive said that Samsung and Google continue to work together or a number of projects.

Apple Pay still has the edge in the payments race. Although Google has been working in the payments domain since 2011, it was a bit late as compared to Apple. Apple Pay has already started rolling out in the market and there are many stores accepting the service as a valid payment method.

Kaspersky, the famous security company has claimed that a group called ‘Equation’ has been infecting external hard drives with a firmware resident malware for no less than 20 years. This malware is so lethal that it can never be detected nor destroyed. Perhaps the only way to get rid of this malware is to physically destroy the device. Kaspersky detailed this interesting reveal in a blog post and said that it has identified that ‘Equation’ group— which used ‘similar’ techniques as used by US intelligence agencies— is infecting hard drives of almost all famous companies with a lethal malware.

The external hard drives which could be effected are from famous companies like Seagate, Western Digital, Samsung.

Kaspersky lab blog post said that this sophisticated attack targeted countries like Russia, China, Afghanistan, India and Pakistan. The report also claimed that the encryption techniques used by the Equation group had a striking similarity with NSA techniques that were leaked in some documents in 2013.

The lethal firmware malware works in two-pronged fashion. As soon as it gets on the hard drive, it creates sectors and partitions in it which can only be accessed by secret API (application programming interface). Once the malware gets hold, any kind of formatting, partitioning, antivirus scans cannot remove it.

The source said that such kind of sophisticated malware is there in the books but this is the first time it has been practically seen with all its meticulous implementation.

Kaspersky says that most hard drive vendors use ATA commands that are publicly available. These commands and firmware architecture was exploited by the Equation group. The malware is named as ‘Equationdrug’ and ‘GrayFish’.

Perhaps the most anticipated tech news of year 2015 has just broke out: Xiaomi, the Chinese tech giant which has outpaced Samsung in China and Asia has announced that it is coming to the US. The bells have finally rung for Apple, Xiaomi’s biggest potential competitor. However, Xiaomi made it clear that the company will not sell cell phones and TVs in the US. It will start with small gadgets like headphones, low priced fitness bands and accessories.

Xiaomi showcased an event in the US today and said that the company will launch an online store in the US later this year. Hugo Barra, the vice president of Xiaomi and the only man because of which the company went up in the software and hardware domain accepted that Xiaomi will have to go through a lot to challenge Apple on its turf.

Barra is the man behind Android. When He left Google and joined Xiaomi, which was almost nothing at that time (2013), experts were skeptical about the sensibility of Barra’s decision. But within 2 years, Barra’s experience, talent and skills made Xiaomi the juggernaut of cellphone sales in Asia. It’s perfect Apple like hardware and Android like software has imbibed millions of users across the world.

Back in China, Xiaomi business has surged with huge success. It sold 150,000 phones in 10 minutes, shipped 940,000 devices each day in the busy season. But Xiaomi is not even close to Apple when it comes to the US market.

Xiaomi said in a statement that it has no plans to launch its phones in the US for now. It is in talks with the US authorities regarding NFC payment regulations. The move is seen as an attempt to enter the US market and increase adaptation and learn business dynamics of the local market. If Xiaomi could deliver quality products in affordable prices, it could give a tough time to Apple.

Samsung has started teasing its billions of fans across the globe with Samsung Galaxy S6, the much awaited flagship of the Korean tech giant. Samsung just renamed its Twitter handle to “The Next Galaxy” and posted a video. The video starts under a black tunnel and the background voice says “Unique View” and “Vision” and the video teaser ends with the sentence “I am the new Galaxy”. Recently, many reports stuck the web touting claims about the launch date and features of Samsung Galaxy S6.

Source have claimed that Samsung Galaxy S6 will have curved glass screen on both sides unlike Samsung Note Edge, with has its one side tilted. The camera of S6 will also be sensational.

Regarding the Samsung Galaxy S6 release date, an internal memo from Samsung revealed that the company is planning to call back its employees from vacations during March and April. This hints that Samsung will launch its next flagship before summer.

Samsung is reportedly ditching Qualcomm for Exynos and you can expect a fast and improved processor in the upcoming device.

Another startling report from Sam mobile has claimed that Samsung has planned to quit its own OS and preloaded apps. The company will adapt Microsoft’s apps and UI. This will be huge if true. Samsung is suffering in its sales. Apple, Xiaomi and other mobile players in established and emerging markets have given a tough competition to Samsung recently.

If Samsung pulls its preloaded apps from Galaxy S6, this would mean the end of S Health, S Note, S Voice. You can expect Microsoft’s OneDrive, Office 365(free), productivity apps in the next flagship of Samsung. Samsung is heavily changing its strategy to target the enterprise mobile users.

Samsung’s latest Smart TV has suffered a PR disaster. A number of users have complained that during watching locally stored content on Samsung smart TV, pop up ads from nowhere surface on the screen and start playing, without the intent or permission of the user. The first report came on Reddit where a user said that a muted Pepsi ad came on the screen while he was watching TV shows on his Samsung Smart TV. After this, hundreds of users lodged complaints through Plex and Australian service Foxtel.

Plex was quick to issue a statement that this ads programming error has nothing to do with it. Later on, several experts blamed Foxtel programming service for these random ads but a statement from Samsung cleared the confusions. Samsung said that it was an error on its part due to a software update that ‘was not intended’ for the Australian customers. Also, it’s important to note that no other Smart TVs are facing this problem and it is now almost confirmed that Samsung Smart TVs are the real cause of this faulty programming.

Earlier this month, Samsung suffered a marketing disaster when it said that Samsung Smart TVs could ‘listen to audience conversations’. What can be more devastating than this label, keeping in view the privacy concerns users around the world have regarding technology devices and software.

However, there’s a temporary fix to this issue. Samsung Smart TV users can turn off these random ads by going in the Samsung TV hub settings and selecting ‘disagree with the Yahoo Privacy Notice’.

Samsung faced a similar humiliation back in January when several smart TV users reported random ads from Yahoo. Samsung has said that it is working with Yahoo on an opt-in ads program and the bugs are caused during the development of this new feature.

According to an Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, iPhone’s latest version iPhone 6 will likely be released on September. News sources like Reuters have also confirmed an autumn release of the new iPhone 6. However, there are rumors that the iPhone 6 might come out before than expected and the release date may be at the beginning of the August. The rumor based itself when Economic Daily News of Taiwan has published a report regarding this.

The competition in the smartphone arena has gotten stiffer as the biggest competitor Samsung releases its newer smartphones at an earlier date than expected. That is why Apple may not want to lose the market share by releasing their product at an earlier date than expected.

As per the report from The Economic Daily News, the new iPhone 6 will also increase its increase size to 5.5 inch. Larger screen idea can be mainly attributed to Samsung Galaxy phones and iPhones have been facing intense competition from it. The competition has also been a greater one in terms of Operating System- Android VS iOS. Samsung, Huawei, and some other brands have greater dominance over the massive Asian market, so Apple needed to introduce something new to regain its position. Apple has never been good with surprises, but now it is likely to plan something to shock the Apple fans and also gain some of its competitor’s market share. No wonder the iPhone 6 Release Date pushed up to the Beginning of August, Apple surely get their product to the potential customers as early as possible. A constant fear of a competitors’ product to hit the market early is also contributing to the factor of early release. Apple has never been good with surprises, but now it is likely to plan something to shock the Apple fans and also gain some of its competitor’s market share With the emergence of the iPhone 6, Apple expects to compete for the Smartphone market leader position.

In 2012, 25.6 million “phablets”—or hybrid smart phones and tablets with screens 5” or larger—shipped worldwide. That number is predicted to reach 146 million by 2016. In fact, phablets are getting so popular, that Dockers has redesigned their signature pants with larger pockets to accommodate the devices. But are phablets are fabulous find or a fad?

Phablets Defined

A phablet is a device that combines the note-taking ability of a tablet with the communication features of a smart phone. Phablets offer screens of 5″ or larger, which makes reading lengthy documents or watching movies easier. One example is the phablet from Samsung Galaxy Note. The Galaxy Note starting dominating the market in 2011. Their use has grown rapidly, with 2013 coined “the year of the phablet” by some pundits, as Marketing Land points out.

Pros and Cons of Phablets

Phablets are said to combine the best features of both a traditional tablet and a smart phone in one device. Typical benefits cited by phablet owners include:

Carrying only one device instead of two

Larger screen than a smart phone, making it easier to watch movies and read ebooks

Note-taking ability with a stylus, similar to a tablet

Longer battery life in phablets, compared to both tablets and smart phones, according to Price Panda

However, phablets do have some drawbacks. These include:

Discomfort during use: The larger screens may make phablets a pleasure to use for reading, gaming or entertainment apps, but they’re uncomfortable to hold for lengthy phone calls.

Appearances: Phablets are bulkier than smart phones, and holding one up to the ear during a call is reminiscent of the bulky cell phones of the early 1990s. Some are just plain unattractive.

Difficult to carry: Tablet users know they can’t just shove their devices in their pants pockets. But they expect smart phones to be portable. Phablets still don’t fit easily into most jeans, pants or jacket pockets. And while Dockers may be resizing pockets to fit them, consumers are unlikely to purchase a new wardrobe to accommodate a phablet. Screen sizes have continued to grow, with the newer Samsung models sporting screens up to 6.3 inches. As screen size creeps up, phablets may expand back into the tablet category. The extra weight can also drag on one’s pants, making them both unattractive and awkward to tote around to business meetings.

Will Phablets Overtake the Market?

Mobile phones currently account for 17% of all internet traffic, according to GFK.com, and that number is expected to grow. Phablets, with their ability to bridge both the world of tablets and smart phones, may speed the growth of mobile internet access even more. Adoption of phablets will depend on many factors, including consumer acceptance and price.

Disrupting the industry, PassBeeMedia has designed a platform specifically to put mobile offer technology within reach of small to medium enterprises for truly leveling the playing field.

Apple Passbook and Google Wallet technology has been out there for the largest corporations for a while. Unfortunately, until now SMEs have been blocked from maximizing opportunities in the mobile space, either due to cost or development challenges. PassBeeMedia intends to change this; empowering small business with a fair fighting chance, and with their superior agility, perhaps even get the edge.

Forester Research has predicted that by 2017 mobile payments will have grown 48% to $90 billion. A recent survey by the Carlisle & Gallagher Consulting Group highlights the importance of this even further as over 50% of respondents claimed they would like to use mobile wallet services for real-time incentives. Just under 50% would use it to “search & shop”, and 30% would use it for choosing places to go.

PassBeeMedia who also provides Apple Passbook services has reportedly designed its platform not only to make it affordable to more SMEs to step up their digital marketing, but to do it with ease and confidence.

Spokesman for the digital media firm Scott Hutchinson puts it simply as “removing all of the barriers to highly targeted, local mobile offers for maximizing ROI”, stating “there is no guess work or gambling with precious capital here”.

To back it up PassBeeMedia not only offers free access to take the mobile offer technology for a test drive, as well as ready to roll out templates, but serves up comprehensive analytics tools and a free online mobile offer ROI calculator. However, perhaps the real kicker for many is the integration of a robust suite of publishing tools for leveraging social, in store codes for scanning, SMS, email and geofencing to maximize adoption by both B2B and B2C customers.

With mobile phone theft growing into a national epidemic – 1 in 3 robberies in the U.S. involve phones, per the Federal Communications Commission – cell phone manufacturers such as Apple and Samsung have suggested the introduction of a “kill” switch that would disable a stolen device. However, according to San Francisco District Attorney George Gascon, service providers including AT&T Inc., Verizon Wireless, US Cellular, Sprint. and T-Mobile ordered the removal of a pre-installed anti-theft software called Absolute LoJack, prior to shipment of Samsung’s phones earlier this year. Wireless carriers contend that the kill switch leave customers exposed to the risk of hackers shutting down users’ mobiles remotely.

The selling of stolen smartphones is becoming quite a lucrative business, particularly in larger urban areas such as San Francisco and Washington DC, where they account for 40%, or more, of total robberies. They are then sold on the streets for hundreds of dollars to a customer base that is only concerned with the savings realized against much higher in-store retail prices. In 2012, roughly 174 million mobile phones were sold in the United States alone, amounting to nearly $69 billion in sales. New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman recently cited a June study indicating that stolen phones cost consumers over $30 billion last year alone. Technology, lawmakers contend, is a simple fix to this growing trend. Chuck Wexler, executive director of the Police Executive Research Forum, points to sharp declines in automobile theft the past several years, due to increased use of technology to catch and deter thieves, as proof that technological solutions would likely have a great impact.

A technological solution, says Gascon, is cheaper than criminal solution because it saves taxpayers the expense of prosecuting and jailing would-be criminals . He adds, “We know that the technology can be developed to prevent this. This is more about social responsibility than economic gain.”

Apple is ok with competitors who try to design and innovate their way into legitimate competition with the iPhone and iPad. What Apple is not ok with is when a competitor outright copies the look, feel, and UI of one of their devices.

The most blatant culprit so far seems to be Samsungs Galaxy Tab 10.1 Android tablet – Honeycomb Android OS I might add.

Today, Apple has gained a significant advantage in shutting down copycats when they were granted a preliminary injuction against Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1.

The injunction against Samsung is applicable immediately in Germany, and if Apple gets its way in the courts, the ruling will be granted EU-wide which will dramatically hamper Samsung’s global sales of the 10.1″ Galaxy Tab.

According the complain filed by Apple, “Rather than innovate and develop its own technology and a unique Samsung style for its smart phone products and computer tablets, Samsung chose to copy Apple’s technology, user interface and innovative style in these infringing products.”

It’s hard enough for competitors to innovate on the Android OS platform to try and compete with Apple, but with Apple also shooting down competition in the courts worldwide, the field of competition is getting even harder.

Looks like Apple will be the dominate player in the smartphone and tablet marketspace for quite a long time to come.

There has been much debate about what Apple has in store for their next iPhone, with detailed information about the device being kept tightly under wraps.

As the usual June/July release date has been pushed back in time for the release of iOS 5 in September, this is one feature that can be taken for granted with most other things just being speculation.

There have been conflicting rumours of a larger screen and yet a smaller phone, and with the name of the device not yet confirmed to be the iPhone 5 or the iPhone 4S.

While some had suggested the name of the iPhone 4S in lieu of the fact that this next Apple phone might not mark a huge shift in design from the iPhone 4, there are now rumours floating about that there will in fact be two Apple phones released in September with the iPhone 5 being the main affair and a smaller iPhone 4S being the rumoured ‘iPhone Nano’.

The claim of two new Apple phones comes from an unlikely source, Chris Whitmore of Deutsche Bank, who claims that the smaller Apple phone will be released to try and capitalise on Nokia and BlackBerry’s falling market share in the lower end of the market.

These rumours have already been floating around for some time but considering the iPhone’s position as a premium priced status symbol it is unlikely that a scaled down iPhone will be as cheap as the more basic handsets.

In other news, Samsung has just dropped the price of its Galaxy SII with more rumours speculating that this is in preparation for a newer flagship handset.

Considering the popularity of the Galaxy SII (which has been the first phone in a year to knock the iPhone 4 from the number 1 spot of bestselling phones) this could indeed indicate that Samsung is preparing a new rival for the next iPhone.

Samsung has just invited “people” from the media to a Samsung Mobile event on November 8th at 6p.m. (unsure as of now where the event is being held). This media will be highlighted by Samsung Mobile announcing a new Android device. Exactly what Android device this will be, nobody knows. But my guess is that it will be a new Android tablet. After all, Android 3.0 Gingerbread is the latest Android OS designed for tablet devices. And these Android 3.0 tablets are suppose to be on the shelves by Christmas.

So what do you think – do you think the “mystery Android” device by Samsung Mobile will be a new smartphone, or a new tablet?

The Samsung Galaxy Tab is set to release in the UK on November 1st. However, what is still up in the air is when the Galaxy Tab will hit the US market. However, new rumors are out today speculating that Verizon may be releasing a Galaxy Tab Android tablet on November 1st, right along with their UK counterparts. Along with that rumors comes another stating that Sprint will release the Galaxy Tab on November 14th in the US. So regardless of who releases the Galaxy Tab Android tablet when, suffice it to say that we will more than likely see that it here in the US sometime next month (November).

If the Samsung Galaxy Tab tablet releases with a screen resolution that is equivalent Samsung Galaxy S smart phone (480 x 800), it could mean “fail” literally from day one for Samsung. Nobody wants a tablet device that has the same screen resolution as the much smaller mobile phone.

These are just rumors at the moment, but the message is picking up some steam on the web here and here.

CrunchGear states that, “There’s a talk over at xdadevelopers that the tablet’s resolution is more like 600 x 1024. Those specs were found within the tablet’s firmware and seem a bit more likely. Considering the Tab is supposed to be a 7-inch screen, this resolution would put it on par with the 9.7-inch 1024 x 768 iPad.”

Vonage just released this new “call your Facebook friends for free” app called Vonage Mobile for Facebook. Basically, this app will allow you to make calls to your Facebook friends, anywhere in the world and from any carrier in the world, for absolutely free.

So I was installing the app on my iPhone from the Vonage Facebook page when I noticed something very interesting… check it out:

I know that a lot of the new Android tablets that are coming out will be enabled for the two way video and talk – take the Samsung Galaxy Tab for example.

But the iPad is not yet enabled for this, so is it possible that Vonage knows something that we don’t?

I know it only makes sense that Apple’s future iterations of the iPad have two way conferencing, but nothing official has been announced yet from Apple.

And now with Vonage saying they are already set with the Vonage Facebook for Mobile app for the iPad, this seems like a done deal – we are just waiting for the next generation of iPads to be released.

This is a great idea from Verizon – give a way a free phone to build up customers on the mobile phone carrier side of business.

I’m of the opinion that Google will eventually start giving away, or subsidizing heavily, all Android powered phones. The reason, because the more people using Android handsets, the more people are browsing the mobile web and seeing ads within the Google network.

View Entire List of free Verizon Phones here

Samsung has come out strong with their lineup of Android powered mobile phones. The Samsung Vibrant on T-Mobile and the Samsung Captivate on AT&T are some of the best Android powered devices on the market.

T-Mobile is making an effort to “stand out” from the Android crowd by offering their Samsung Vibrant 4G with the movie Avatar fully loaded.

That’s right folks – get the Samsung Vibrant 4G from T-Mobile and you will have the full length Avatar movie pre-loaded onto your phone.

Pretty cool huh?

In the hyper competitive market of mobile phones, carriers are having to find ways to distinguish themselves amongst the competition. Carriers are having to sell the exact same device, so typically carrier brand and reputation is the deciding factor.

But now that high end data phones from Android powered devices are coming to multiple carriers, the wireless providers are needing to be more creative on how to get attention from the consumers.

Sprint is about to add to its list of 4G enabled devices come around August 20th. Already, Sprint has rolled out the HTC EVO 4G, and they are aggressively expanding their metro area coverage of 4G data speed.

Sprint is expected to add the Samsung Epic 4G to their line around August 20th.

2 tweets confirming Epic 4G release date of mid / late August:

Android Police posted 2 tweets from @SamsungMobileUS reps that appear to be confirming a release date of the Epic 4G around the August 20th timeframe:

The tweet above occurred yesterday around 2:30pm stating the Sprint Epic 4G will be arriving in a few weeks.

and then this one:

So looking at these two Twitter updates from @SamsungMobileUS and it seems safe to conclude that August 20th would be an appropriate release date for the Sprint Epic 4G.

Here’s a video of the Samsung Epic 4G:
