There was a time when social media was a new and interactive way to connect with your customers. Now more and more savvy business owners understand that it is a tool to propel your company in the marketplace and set yourself apart from your competitors. In fact, there are very few businesses today that are not touched in some way by the impacting power of social media.

How you choose to interact on social media can determine the fate of your company, especially in terms of customer service. Let’s say, for example, a previous customer tweets about a bad experience with your company – they received your product in the mail weeks past the delivery date. The issue, however, was with the delivery company, not your brand, but this person believes it is your fault. Now it is too late – their negative tweet is now seen by your current customers as well as a whole new audience of people, and this may be the first time they ever hear about your business.

In this way, the poor experience of one person can have a negative and somewhat immediate effect on a company’s revenue.

No matter your industry, the fact is that all aspects of any social media platform must be monitored in order to control this type of situation. Online Reputation Management (ORM) is a calculated method of ensuring that a company’s reputation is maintained by carefully monitoring all avenues of social media and quickly working to address any problems that may reflect poorly on that company’s products and services.

Company Credibility in the Marketplace

Online Reputation Management is used to ensure that your brand maintains a high level of visibility and credibility on all types of platforms. These include:

Facebook posts

Tweets

Instagram comments

Forum posts

Blog posts

Yelp comments

Just to name a few. ORM professionals are able to carefully craft responses by making sure that the company’s side of the story is heard. Allowing posts to unchecked only reflects poorly on your company. The goal is to make certain that you can address poor experiences as quickly as possible, ensuring that you come across as a credible business that cares about its image in the marketplace as well as your customers.

A company must maintain a high level of integrity in order to have any lasting power in the marketplace. By addressing negativity head-on, you get the change to create a more direct and positive spin to their issues. In today’s marketplace, a company that does not monitor its position with its customers will very likely find itself losing touch with them.

By constantly being aware of the public’s changing needs, a company can keep pace with them and keep them as customers. By monitoring your digital presence on social media as a whole, you are more likely to foresee what new products or services may do well in the marketplace and what needs to be phased out.

Telling A Story Creates Buzz

ORM not only monitors what is already out there, but produces new messages to shape how the world sees your brand. Storytelling in a social media setting allows you to have an emotional connection to the public and creates the positive “buzz” that you are looking for. By writing a series of diverse messages in the marketplace, you can become a part of the cultural vernacular.

Today, a company’s marketing campaigns are almost always split fifty-fifty between traditional media (print, television, and radio) and social media. Creating your own content is worth a great deal to a company’s bottom line and its position in the marketplace. A carefully crafted storyline, along with vibrant videos and photos, can keep your campaigns alive and well.

Your Online Marketing Strategy

Companies like SEO Brand that specialize in Online Reputation Management are helpful in maintaining a company’s digital and social media presence. This can be important for any growing company’s profits.

Keeping your business in a positive light takes a good amount of resources that you may not have. When you hire a specialized ORM service, you can use their capabilities to manage an online presence without worry. You also save the time and energy of having to do the management yourself and continue to stay close to your customers.

SEO Brand set themselves apart from other ORM professionals by focusing on how these concepts also work with Search Engine Optimization (SEO), or how you are found on search engines. They are known for working with companies to not only address the issues they are facing now, but creating new messages that work towards maintaining a positive and professional image for you and your brand. This is the surest way for you to keep your position in the marketplace – take a look at what they can offer you today.

Twitter has finally started rolling out some pleasant changes after the resignation of Dick Costolo. The company has announced that its users will be able to send DM (direct messages) without any character limit (the new limit is 10,000 characters, which practically makes it no limit). Previously, Twitter DM was a big nuisance, having 140 characters limit. This made chatting, interaction, communication of data and information extremely difficult.

The new change will take effect from July. Twitter has no plans to change the character limit for its Tweets, and I think it’s better this way. A direct message is something where you need to explain, elaborate things in detail to your friends, family, followers, businesses. This was a much-needed change. Let’s see how Twitter takes on with the future road map after getting its new CEO.

When it comes to endorsements, celebrities are always vying for contracts and the almighty dollar. Their voices and faces become the centerpiece of ad campaigns that make or break many products and services. In the recent past, social media reshaped the entire landscape of celebrity endorsements, helping companies reach consumers in high volumes via sites such as Facebook and Twitter. With so many people constantly accessing social media, these ad campaigns enjoy enormous success. Here are just a few of the most popular celebrity endorsers on the web today.

Lindsay Lohan

In 2011, Lindsay Lohan became one of the first of many Twitter users to leverage the platform to promote a product. The online website CampusLIVE, which allows college students to enter random contests in order to win prizes, paid Lohan $3,500 to plug them in a tweet. The tweet reached over two million viewers and was highly successful in click-through rates, making it one of the first large-scale campaigns. Many users were unaware that it was an advertisement, however, so its success hinged on the organic nature of its appearance. In 2013, new laws pertaining to endorsed tweets came out, requiring companies to make it clear whether a tweet serves as an ad.

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian’s Twitter shadow grows larger every day. The iconic celebrity has over 20 million followers on Twitter. With such popularity, she’s the perfect candidate for advertising. Recently, she plugged the cosmetics company Eos to promote a lip balm product. The company paid her handsomely — $13,000 per tweet, making it one of the highest price tags ever for Twitter.

Justin Bieber

The famous singer is one of the most recognized figures worldwide. To cash in on this success, Bieber took to Twitter advertisements. In 2013, he informed his loyal followers via Twitter of the shop at whih he bought his Mother’s Day flowers, encouraging others to do the same. With over 50 million followers, the campaign was a success, even if only a small percentage followed his lead.

Sofia Vergara

The “Modern Family” star is a huge star thanks to a successful television run and her natural beauty. Recently, she conducted a Twitter ad campaign for Diet Pepsi. She posed during a photo shoot with the famous cola, causing Twitter to erupt in a frenzy. While it’s not yet proven, many Twitter followers seem to think that Diet Pepsi is the key to beauty, and Vergara was there to cash in on her followers.

David Beckham

While soccer still lags behind in terms of popularity in the United States, David Beckham remains a highly recognizable figure, thanks in part to his marriage to former Spice Girl Victoria. This past year, the star took to Twitter to promote Haig Club, a grain whiskey that looks like a perfume bottle. While it might not work for many whiskey drinkers, others want to obtain the same level of cool as Beckham, so the endorsement may just work after all.

As social media continues to grow, more companies gravitate toward it as an advertising outlet. Whether it’s here to stay or just a fad is unknown, but for now, it looks as though companies are more than willing to shell out the money.

Twitter is launching features after features these days in an effort to sustain and grow its user base. Today, the blue bird has launched a feature called ‘highlights’ which will show you the most important tweets of the day. This will help you sift through the most important stuff, filtering out the crappy and useless tweets which are of no use to you.

Most of the users are sick and tired of hundreds and thousands of tweets, promotions, ads and retweets on Twitter. The curating on Twitter is sloppy and most of the time, the main, information-worthy content gets lost under the huge piles of the useless content.

Twitter has already a feature called ‘while you were away’, which shows you the important tweets. But the new feature will help the users to get updated in an easy way.

Twitter announced this feature in a blog post. You can enable the Highlights feature right now.

Go to Settings and tap on your own account name (this can be done by tapping the 3 dot icon).

Tap on the mobile notifications section and you will see a new ‘Highlights’ feature. Check its box and the new feature will be enabled for your Twitter account.

Finally some good news from Twitter has arrived which soared its stock during the after-hours of trading. Twitter has released its quarterly report. The user growth, as expected missed the analysts’ expectations but the micro-blogging company has surprisingly beat the revenue estimates.

Twitter’s revenue surged by 97% and brushed $479.1 million whereas the Street was eying for something around $453 million. The losses also plummeted for Twitter. The social media giant depleted its losses to $125 million whereas the loss was above $500 million as compared to the last year.

Twitter’s CEO Dick Costolo has finally got some space for a breather. He was lashed out by investors for bad results since consecutive quarters. However, the user growth for Twitter still remains a problematic area. Twitter has reported that its users went up by 20% to 288 million by the end of 2014. The estimates were around of 22%. Overall, the user growth came down by 2% as compared to the last year, a red flag for Twitter, which is being crushed by Facebook and Instagram.

Soon after the report, Twitter’s stock went up by 9%. Twitter’s CEO spoke to the media and claimed that Twitter ended the year 2014 with a positive sign. He said that Twitter is working on a number of projects which are being designed for all the users, whether they have an account on Twitter or not.

Twitter also recently signed a deal with Google regarding real-time Tweets. The company is revamping its management and policies to get back in action in 2015.

Twitter has struck a deal with Google after which, Google will have the access to Twitter stream. This would mean that all the tweets and news feed streams from Twitter will be available in the Google search results. Analysts are hopeful that this move will increase the traffic on Twitter, which is struggling with its product curve and user growth lately.

Twitter has currently 284 million users. Recently, a senior Twitter executive freaked out in an interview when he was told that Instagram users have crossed Twitter users. Also, there are many reports that surfaced claiming that a huge chunk of Twitter users are not active; meaning that either they didn’t come after the first tweet or they just made their account on Twitter. Twitter is also used by thousands of small businesses, which are using bots to increase their traffic from social media.

A similar deal was stuck between Google and Twitter back in 2009 but couldn’t last longer due to multiple issues. The problem was a disagreement on how Google will access and show Twitter data. Meanwhile, Google launched its own social media platform and tried to push back Twitter and other rivals in traffic. It is also important to note that after 2009, Twitter didn’t report any increase in traffic; an indicator that real time tweets might not work perfectly for the social media giant.

Twitter has also signed a deal with Yahoo and Flipboard regarding social media ads. Twitter is being lashed out by investors on its slow user growth and mismanagement of affairs at the highest levels in the company. A few renowned investors also demanded resignation from Twitter’s CEO Dick Costolo.

Twitter is set to report its fourth quarter earnings very soon.

Its elegance and easy way of sharing content made it very popular, especially with the young, technologically savvy population. Soon, it even started to compete with Facebook in many aspects.

But, with growth came the necessity for change. Twitter’s simple follow-unfollow principle meant that anyone who followed a certain user received all tweets from this user on its timeline. This meant that whatever the person was tweeting was being transmitted to their followers. On the other hand, unfollowing a user was also transparent, so anyone can see if any other user is or isn’t following them.

Now, Twitter is introducing the Mute option. This feature is designed to give users the ability to influence the tweets they receive on their timeline. When the Mute option is activated, the other user stops seeing their tweets in the feed on their timeline. But, even when Mute is activated, the muted user can still respond by using replies, retweet the user’s tweets or fave them, but tweets, as well as retweets coming for the muted will not be shown.

Previously, Twitter offered only the Block option, but this meant that a blocked user couldn’t reply to tweets or even follow the other user. This was a cumbersome solution for anyone who wanted to stop receiving tweets from their coworkers, friends or family members, and do it without possibly insulting them by the blocking their Twitter account. Now, the users have a more elegant solution which, most importantly, will not be visible to the blocked user. In many aspects, Mute can be compared to the Facebook’s Hide option.

Currently, the Twitter app for Android enabled this feature, while versions of the same social networks on other platforms are in the process of getting the same upgrade. According to the Twitter officials, the Mute options should be available to all of their users in the next few weeks.

Racism is not tolerated anywhere and when Justine Sacco, a Top PR person for InterActiveCorp, tweeted a disgusting and extremely rude comment about aids and Africans, Twitter blew up. Her tweet was ignorant and repulsive, completely degrading the people of Africa.

She was boarding a flight to Africa and before she got on the plane, this tweet came out of her account. Many people believe her account might have been hacked, but who would wan’t to hack an account of some normal person? It’s not like she’s a celebrity. Her account is now deactivated. No one knows for sure if her account was hacked or not, but InterActiveCorp immediately issued a statement saying that this outrageous and offensive comment does not reflect the views of their company, that this is a serious matter and appropriate actions are taking place. What caused Twitter to take deep concern in all of this was that IAC could not contact Justine, she was on a 11-hour flight. You can’t just fire someone in a top position without talking to them first, so they waited for her to land. Twitter waited for her to land too.

The hashtag #HasJustineLandedYet started trending and people sent in their tweets. One asked if anyone in Capetown was waiting for her arrival. Another commented how it was strange to see someone self-destruct without them even knowing it. Justine will have a tough time defending herself, she has left minor racist comments before through social media. It almost certain she will be fired. Think about that, she’s on a plane, enjoying her flight to Africa and has no idea her career may be in jeopardy! @AidforAfrica even went as far as registering the domain name www.justinesacco.com and makes it redirect to their donate page.

Tweets like these are not tolerable. Social media is extremely big right now, and never think your tweet won’t do anything. In the case for Justine Sacco, her career as a PR person might even be over. People will attack you and make you famous for your mistakes. When she will land in Capetown, the people there will be ready. Africans have Twitter too. Let this be a lesson for everyone, keep your horrible thoughts and comments to yourself. Or think before you say something. It might just change your whole life life. That’s what it has done for Justine Sacco

Eight fire engines are attending an incident at a theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue in #Soho,” the London Fire Brigade said via Twitter.

“We are aware of a number of casualties but we have no further detail at this early stage,” police added in a statement. Casualties can mean injuries and/or deaths.

Charlotte Rolt, who was at the performance, added via Twitter: “At the Apollo theatre and total mayhem when the roof just came down on us! We look like we’ve been down the mines!”

Khalil Anjarwalla, who was also there, said: “Was at the #Apollo Theatre watching a play when the roof came crashing in! Praying for those still inside #London.”

“The roof started crumbling and collapsed. Was in upper circle, sheltered. Worried about those in the stall.”

Twitter has initiated an innovation in attracting more customers into using this forum by introducing text-based tweets on mobiles without any internet connectivity. Now, you can follow your tweets wherever you go with your mobile phones, and no internet connectivity is required. They will be able to use Twitter via their mobile service provider which will act as an interface between you and your beloved Twitter.

Twitter has raised its fascination by signing a contract with a Switzerland-based company, Myriad Group. This group provides services in the niches of mobile software. According to the contract, the company will provide the Twitter services to the mobile customers without availability of internet. Users will just have to enter a short code to access their tweets. Text-based tweets are served through transmission technology based on text-only services. This technology is called USSD which is abbreviation for Unstructured Supplementary Services Data.

Social networking is enticing a huge mob of people these days. These forums are facilitating many people by introducing interesting features. Twitter, without internet, seemed a dream once which is quite possible now. These services will be valuable for keeping in touch with our social network round the clock. We can exchange views with our loved ones and follow our tweets very easily. You will just have to type a code and send it to your mobile server to receive your tweets. Myriad’s services are impeccable in facilitating the Twitter lovers.

The only drawback of internet-less Twitter, is limitation of using text-based services only. You cannot view or share nay multimedia services. The videos and stuff are simply put out of the question. This drawback is significant but something is better than nothing, and users with cheap mobiles have to bear some pain, else they should buy sophisticated sets.

The matchless Twitter services without internet will attract many customers worldwide as they can now access Twitter very easily. The target markets are popular countries in Asia and South America.

The euphoria of using social media on mobiles without internet is not limited to twitter only. Instead, Facebook has provided similar facilities to its users. Facebook is available with the help of Fonetwish for using text-based facilities. Facebook has done partnership with mobile service U2opia to bring the biggest social network into the mobiles without internet.

What’s the best way to take out revenge on someone who fired you? To converse with the social media acting like them, of course. Jim Knight was fired from his job as the head chef at The Pub. Why you ask? He only wanted to take Christmas day off and a weekend to be with his family. Sounds silly, doesn’t it? Well, Jim Knight thought it did and took to the restaurants official twitter (which he created with permission from his ex-employers) to announce to the world that the restaurant had fired their head chef.

His tweets, or the “restaurants tweets”… were oozing with sarcasm as he made a joke of the restaurant for firing him over something small. It’s not like he asked to take a whole month off with pay. Christmas is the most important day of the year for them! Who wouldn’t want to take a few days off to spend time with their family? He has a 7 and a 1/2 month old baby too, aww. Not only that, he dissed the menu of the restaurant by telling the public to “come down and continue to pay a premium for Australian sirloins, New Zealand lambs and everything else that is bought from asda”. Yikes! Talk about seriously decreasing customers. His tweets brought the restaurant quite some attention, not the one one they would’ve liked though because now who would want to work at a restaurant with such poor employee service? Jim’s clever use of his restaurant’s twitter account brought him a serious job offer from somewhere else, he says.

Good for you Jim! But it seems that this twitter storm brought some good fortune for the restaurant as well, they’ve already gotten multiple applications. Looks like those people don’t care about employee treatment. We can all learn from this funny situation. If you fire someone, make sure they don’t have access to your twitter account AFTER you lay them off. And if you get fired from your job, it’s best not to continue using their twitter account. This situation worked out well for Jim Knight, but it might not always go this well.

Let this be a lesson to both parties involved, and to restaurants and employees around the world. If you want days off for the holidays, make sure to ask your employer before you apply. And for restaurants? Be more careful with your online presence.

Twitter has to hastily revert the changes it made just a day before in which it allowed its users to block the users they want. Within hours, Twitter’s mailbox started to get flooded by furious messages by its users, it was due to visibility of accounts to others who have been blocked by the users. This certainly is a big U-turn by a social media network and it was considered as a necessary step even though it has caused the social media giant to suffer a bit of embarrassment.

The decision has been backtracked after tremendous amount of complaints received on Thursday by Twitter administration regarding modifications made to blocking features. Twitter users had blocked some undesired bullying and abuses made on them. They were facing dilemma of changes made due to improper algorithms designed to counteract bullying. It went more in favor of abusers rather than the victims.

Prior to modifications in blocking features, Twitter users have been facing cyber-bullying cases quite a lot. Increased amounts of cases of trolling forced them to think on new patterns and they decided to introduce novel features in blocking tweets for some users. The company launched the “report Twitter” button to help users in fighting against cyber-bullying.

The main reason for trolling was the visibility of information that you have blocked some users. As a result, those users and their friends act against you and make you target of trolling and cyber-bullying. The modification in the blocking feature was an attempt to prevent information of your blocked lists from getting leaked out to abusers. However, these changes worked horribly wrong and ended up supporting the people who were involved in cyber-bullying. Twitter users had to immediately file the case against the modifications to prevent their privacy from getting breached by annoying persons. Users started receiving all kinds of bullshit as soon as the changes were made and they had to complain the administration immediately.

Twitter had been following other popular social networks like Facebook in making changes to blocking features. Unfortunately, their fate was similar to that of other social networks which also backed out.

The case of modifications has been successfully reverted now and old changes are commencing. Those unwanted persons, initially blocked by you, are now helpless again. Their annoying acts cannot disturb you now. You can breathe a sigh of relief and start using Twitter safely as ever.

Twitter will continue to struggle for counteracting cyber-bullying. They will try to devise more intelligent algorithms and strategies that will benefit the users instead of annoying abusers.

We all love to use Twitter right? All the celebrity gossip and the wars of words that the Twitter has witnessed warrants a punctual following of the social networking platform but there are several key features missing from this key Social Network and the list is quite big. But one thing that we have to admit is that the Twitterati have been waiting for the simple feature of effective direct messaging for quite some time and finally it is happening with the newer version of the Twitter app available for the iOS and Android platforms.

Not only the users are able to send and receive images directly but there are also a few changes in the ability to shift from Home, discover and activity timelines on both mobile and web based services and the messages tab has been placed on the navigation bar making it easy to access direct messages. Also in an only-Android-feature, now the user can see the notifications from other people not just celebrities and other important personalities. This fresh UI is seen as a simple yet concrete step towards making twitter a better platform for a broader sense of social networking not just a source of seeing other people tweets and tweeting back. When the image message is received, a thumbnail of the image can be seen in the message log which can be downloaded.

Twitter’s biggest rival and market leader Facebook was the first social network to come up with an effective DM that allowed users to send attached files as well as having normal keyboard conversation. Many analysts believe that the main success of Facebook can be attributed to its effective DM system. Keeping that in mind Twitter has finally upgraded it platform but since not much time has passed, it is yet to be seen whether it will become a source of inspiration to really challenge Facebook’s mighty monopoly of the social network and media. Whether it succeeds or not, one thing is for sure and that is these moves show that the Twitter people are making their move to enter into the mainstream social networking.

The new notification bar (yes you can brag Android users) in profiles is also very handy. It can help you save the tedious process of scanning zillions of tweets from around the whole world to find the right notification which you want to see. The ability to swipe between the home, discover and activity timelines is also a good job.

With the convenience of mobile technology, people get in touch with their loved ones round the clock. The modern trends have provided excellent chance to be connected with your social network all the times with use of smart-phones and internet. However, many people cannot afford to buy expensive mobiles with multimedia and browsing options. Internet availability is also an issue at many places which don’t provide Wi-Fi services. These difficulties are sorted out by availability of social media with the aid of mobile network on standard mobile phones that have no browser or multimedia.

Some reliable Reuters have revealed the fact that Twitter will be available for people at international level without any internet access. These awesome services are available at your disposal with the help of partnership of Twitter with U2opia, which is an application services provider, a Singapore-based company. These facilities will provide trending topics on twitter by using a code for accessing the unique services. The options of multimedia and videos will be disabled. Only texts will be supported without internet. It looks unfavorable at this point that the users will be able to update their tweets.

Following Twitter, Facebook has taken some steps in this regard also. They have done similar sort of partnership with the U2opia. Google Talk has found similar sort of route. Facebook is now available with the aid of Fonetwish without internet for text-based services. Multimedia will be disabled. U2opia has mentioned some interesting facts that more than half a million users of Facebook are accessing it without internet now.

Twitter and Facebook are marketing their without-internet services in top priority areas like Asia and South America. Facebook has aims to enhance figures of their without-internet users by more than a billion. Twitter is following the same lines of thinking.

The aim of Twitter is to target markets of South Africa and Argentina for attracting their future customers. Their efforts will be focused towards providing cheap access to tweets with the help of older phones also. The release of the new version of tweets is not far now.

The race of social media has certainly increased the availability of our beloved social media now with the aid of mobile network services. We can take advantage of cheap texting services of Twitter and Facebook. Connection with our social network is just one simple code away now.

We all love Gary Lineker right? The eye catching Match of The Day presenter is known for his funny and remarkably accurate analysis of the beautiful game as well as bags of hilarious and entertaining tweets he shares with us regularly. The former England striker has over 2 million followers in twitter and is one of the most followed football pundits around. However he recently used the social network to post about a car theft that deprived his mother of her beloved Vauxhall Corsa while she was undergoing dialysis in Leicester. He posted four tweets regarding it which are as follows:

All these Gary Lineker’s posts point to the fact that he sees himself as a family man (or wants others to see that who knows? lol) but anyway the stolen car and the tweets are in our focus right now. The car was cheap we know but as we come to know in the second tweet that there were many necessary possessions of his elderly mother Margaret in there and she was also moving home so many of her possessions were also stolen along with the car. Maybe her things might have been personal, customized and difficult to replace so Gary Lineker opted to use his favorite Twitter account to ask the public for its help in recovering the car and the belongings with it from the thief whom he called “rotter”.

As our dear Gary Lineker is a popular figure so a large number of re tweets started flying around with so many people eager to help (most perhaps too eager) it was difficult for Mr. Lineker to distinguish actual helping information from the rest of the gibberish so he tweeted again about it and asked his followers to contact the police with the information too and thanked them for their support. But the situation was still a hot topic because of the fact that the car in question was a frugal Vauxhall Corsa and there were many jokes tweeted about this and they caught Mr. Lineker’s attention. He tweeted again to clarify this (or maybe tried to try play down the fact that he could provide better cars for his mother?) this time thanking again all the followers for their support and he managed to come up with a joke regarding the Corsa by saying his mother was well into her 70s that’s why it was “just a Corsa”. It’s Typical Gary right?

Corporates use Twitter to engage their fans, prospective customers and general masses not only to balloon up their market, but also to make their presence felt but after what happened to JPMorgan at Twitter a few days ago, things will get a bit difficult for the companies, especially while hiring SMM campaign teams because a big gun just went through one of the biggest humiliations ever on social media. You can never just jump on social media acting a Rambo having nothing in your gun because there are thousands to pounce and tear off your PR. Unfortunately, JPMorgan was unaware of this until this Wednesday when they offered its followers a chance to ask “any question” from the company’s vice president

After the silly plan, JPMorgan’s social media desk gave a tweet that there will be open question and answer session with the company’s Vice Chairman, Jimmy Lee who will be available to answer questions of any kind, for one hour. The gush of offensive tweets from the people were completely surprising for the vice president. The tweets were in-surging from all around the country and taking the corporate giant by storms. People were completely rolling out their frustrations and yowls on the economic crunch and tough times they are suffering or have suffered in the recent past. Some asked ”Do you love kicking us from our homes Mr Lee?”. Some people just chocked out Lee and started trolling the Wall Street. Here are some of the glimpse of the show that happened at Twitter.

You can see see how people pounced the vice president and trolled him, the rate of the tweets touched skies within hours

After giving it a spin for more than three days and facing the worst PR-devastating experience, JPMorgan rolled back its so called ”Twitter Takeover”.

The spoliation of Twitter campaign which started with an intention of meshing a forced hashtag saying #AskJPM was completely bashed because of wrong strategy, poor handling and non-serious attitude from a mainstream company. Lets hope big guns learn from this and lets hope Wall Street do something about the ugly bills.

It was a monumental moment in the history of Women’s soccer today as the U.S. battled it out with Japan. In the end, Japan came out on top with the game being decided in a penalty shootout.

There was something else happening during the Women’s World Cup soccer match today that ended up setting a new record, and it was taking place on Twitter.

During the Women’s World Soccer match a new record of 7,196 tweets per second were generated on Twitter.

Even President Barack Obama joined in on the tweeting frenzy with “Incredible performance from #USWNT, no matter what happens. Now on to penalties. Let’s win this.”

Earlier this morning I wrote about how President Barack Obama will start personally tweeting from his Twitter profile @BarackObama.

Well it didn’t take very long for us to see the President’s very first tweet, and it didn’t have anything to do whatsoever with his Presidential re-election – it was actually to wish all the dads out there a “Happy Father’s Day”.

Here it is:

According to Obama’s re-election campaign officials, he’ll be personally tweeting his own tweets during his upcoming reelection bid.

And the signature to be looking for, to know that its the President himself doing the tweeting, is the “-BO”.

Question – how do you know you live in a communist regime?

Answer, when you get sentenced to “education through hard labor” for a message you tweet.

That’s exactly what happened to Cheng Jianping, 46, when she retweeted a message that her soon to be husband posted on Twitter which read, “Anti-Japanese demonstrations, smashing Japanese products, that was all done years ago by Guo Quan [an activist and expert on the Nanjing Massacre]”. And also, “t’s no new trick. If you really wanted to kick it up a notch, you’d immediately fly to Shanghai to smash the Japanese expo pavilion.”

And then Cheng Jianping retweeted the message with this:

Charge, angry youth.

So the Chinese government decided to step in and squash this online movement of pro-democratic banter. And hard labor for Ms. Jianping is the sentence.

Well none of this sat well with Twitter’s CEO because he sent out his own tweet to the Chinese government that reads:

“Dear Chinese Government, year-long detentions for sending a sarcastic tweet are neither the way forward nor the future of your great people,” Costolo posted on Twitter.

Twitter announced today that “Twitter for Google TV” will come pre-installed on all Google TV’s. Twitter said that tweets aren’t just about TV shows, they are part of them. And this is true… take a look at the trending topics on any given Sunday for example. Nearly all of the trending topics are related to the NFL games being played. This is also true of the players that are playing on Sunday. For example, when Reggie Bush broke his leg, he and the event dominated Twitter’s trending list. This seems like a perfect platform for Twitter to venture into since TV plays such a huge role in determining what people are tweeting about.

Here’s what the 20 billionth tweet consisted of:

“Piro passionate”

Here’s a screenshot of the tweet from the user @GGGGGGo_Lets_Go

The person who posted the 2o billionth tweets is a graphic designer in Tokyo and when he posted his tweet, he probably had no idea what sort of attention he would be getting.

ComputerWorld was able to get a response from the guy who posted this historic message:

“It looks like I posted the 20 billionth tweet. I’m getting replies from people all over the world. It’s scary. What are the chances? Maybe I’m going to die. Is it more amazing than winning the lottery? I thought it was a joke,” he wrote, as reported and translated by Computerworld.

Records are being broke left and right in the social media space.

Today we have Twitter’s 20 billionth tweet, and Facebook hit 500 million users.

Already, Sprint has rolled out the HTC EVO 4G, and they are aggressively expanding their metro area coverage of 4G data speed.

Sprint is expected to add the Samsung Epic 4G to their line around August 20th.

2 tweets confirming Epic 4G release date of mid / late August:

Android Police posted 2 tweets from @SamsungMobileUS reps that appear to be confirming a release date of the Epic 4G around the August 20th timeframe:

The tweet above occurred yesterday around 2:30pm stating the Sprint Epic 4G will be arriving in a few weeks.

and then this one:

So looking at these two Twitter updates from @SamsungMobileUS and it seems safe to conclude that August 20th would be an appropriate release date for the Sprint Epic 4G.

Here’s a video of the Samsung Epic 4G:

The world is advancing rapidly in its ability to share data and information in real time. Being able to instantly broadcast information to a group of people, and have those people respond accordingly, opens up unlimited opportunities for integration and use both for individuals and businesses. And leading the way in terms of real time data sharing is Twitter.

Twitter allows you to broadcast anything, so long as it’s 140 characters or less.

One of the latest and more creative ways that Twitter is being used is at the Gatwick Airport near London. Officials at Gatwick have put up signs encouraging travelers to send complaints, feedback, and suggestions to @gatwick_airport which is, of course, the airport’s official Twitter profile.

According to TNW, airport head of communications Samantha Holgate says “”We do already respond to comments via our Twitter feed, however this now takes it one step further by actually integrating social media into the physical space of the airport.”

As travelers send their tweets to @gatwick_airport, customer service representatives will receive that information instantly and respond accordingly. Basically the Gatwick airport has set up a real time customer service system that allows traveler’s needs to be addressed in real time.

The popularity of the 2010 World Cup is unprecedented throughout the world. And with the rise of social networking and media sites like Twitter, the syndication and distribution of information is faster and more prominent than ever before.

This week alone, Twitter has already been plagued with outages due to intense spikes in traffic. And the problem will seemingly get a whole lot worse on the 2010 World Cup continues.

And to think – the matches have only just begun!

Jean-Paul Cozzatti, a Twitter engineer, said on the Twitter blog that the micro-blogging service’s problems this week were due to an internal network being over-capacity.

Cozzatti said Twitter was doubling capacity and rebalancing traffic on the network to redistribute the load.

“For instance, during the World Cup tournament — and particularly during big, closely-watched matches (such as tomorrow’s match between England and the USA) — we anticipate a significant surge in activity on Twitter.

The level and velocity of traffic that occurs during these massive spikes in traffic is amazing to even think about. I mean, it has to be literally millions of tweets occurring at any given moment!

Paul Pierce Twitter, “Anybody got a broom?”, Twitter Hack

The Boston Celtics took a 2-0 lead in the Eastern Conference Finals last night against the Orlando Magic. Although this is only game 2, with a lot more basketball to be played, some people might be thinking that the Orlando Magic could possibly get swept by the Boston Celtics.

And this theory might even be reinforced by the fact that the Boston Celtics are 32-0 in the playoffs – pretty strong numbers indeed.

Apparently that’s what Paul Pierce, Boston Celtics super star player, was thinking as well when the following tweet emerged from his Twitter profile:

“Anybody got a BROOM?”

That tweet came directly from PaulPierce34 – the “verified” Twitter profile of the Boston Celtics player.

But there’s only one problem with this tweet – based on the time stamp of the message, Paul Pierce was actually talking with reports when that tweet was posted. So what happened? Did Paul Pierce’s Twitter profile get hacked?

There is no question about the authenticity of Paul Pierce’s Twitter profile. His account has the official “Verified” Twitter logo that comes directly from Twitter, and is common for high profile Twitter accounts.

The “Anybody got a BROOM?” comment sent the media into a frenzy and the tweet even made it’s way into an interview with Orlando Magic star Dwight Howard. When asked about what he (Dwight Howard) thought about Paul Pierce’s tweet, Howard said, “Pride come before a fall.”

Paul Pierce’s representatives are now stating that without question, the Twitter account has been hacked and that Paul Pierce did not send out that message.

And of course, if you visit Paul Pierce’s Twitter profile now, you won’t find the update because obviously he deleted it.

According to Pro Basketball Talk, Paul Pierce’s Twitter updates mostly come from the web or via SMS (text messages from a mobile phone). However, the “anybody got a BROOM?” tweet was generated through the twitterific platform.

And as I mentioned earlier, support for the Paul Pierce Twitter hack theory is that other people saw Paul Pierce talking with reporters at the time of the “anybody got a BROOM?” update.

Here’s what some of the supporting tweets said about Paul Pierce:

“RT @taramanis @athleteint I saw [Paul Pierce] talking to other reporters when these were sent… no cell in hand.”

What do you think?

Do you think that Paul Pierce would actually say something like this through his Twitter profile?

Do you think that Paul Pierce’s Twitter account has been hacked?

And finally, will the Boston Celtics sweep the Orlando Magic in the Eastern Conference Finals?

Have you ever wanted to send a tweet by voice instead of typing it out on your Android handset, well now you can with Twitoc. Twitoc is a widget that stays on the home-screen and when you tap on mic icon and you start speaking your tweet. The application use’s Google Voice recognition to turn the voice into text. Since Google’s Voice recognition only works on Android 2.1 and above, all the Android 1.5 & 1.6 users are not going to be able to use it. So if you happen to have a handset running Android 2.1 this might be an application you want to try.

Iron Man 2 has hit the big screen tonight and people are jamming into the theaters – 3D cinemas – and IMAX cinemas to get their taste of the new Iron Man 2 movie.

The best place to get feedback and thoughts on any new release movie is Twitter of course. People are literally tweeting on their way to the movies, while they are sitting in the theater waiting for the movie to start, and literally why the movie is rolling (aren’t you suppose to have your cell phones off?).

Anyway, Twitter is the simply the best source for live movie reviews and feedback and with Iron Man 2 opening – and in fact getting ready to play – people are crowding into theaters as I’m writing this article.

People are already reporting via Twitter that the movie theaters are jammed packed with people anxious to see Iron Man 2.

Here’s the live Twitter stream of Iron Man 2 movie reviews:
