Clemson announces Brad Brownell
Clemson announced today that they will be hiring Brad Brownell to lead the Tigers men’s basketball team as their head coach.
This move by Clemson is to fill in the gap to replace Oliver Purnell who stunned the Clemson community on April 5th when he dramatically departed the school to head up DePaul in Chicago.

Brad Brownell history
According to ESPN, Brownell is familiar with the region after coaching at UNC-Wilmington for four seasons, including an NCAA tournament appearance in 2006. He was 84-45 in four seasons at Wright State.
Brad Brownell was eventually hired by Clemson after they burned through a list of prospects for the head coach position.
People close to the matter said that Mississippi States Rick Stansbury received an offer from Clemson but declined to make the move.
Clemson was 21-11 last season, 9-7 in the ACC. The Tigers lost to Missouri in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
