A Review: Ironman 2

Welcome to my first review. I’m going to begin by saying I’m not sure how I want to “grade” the movies so I’m going to ask you, the reader, to get involved. I have a few ideas of what I will do and here they are; number 1: I will say whether it is good, bad, or ugly. Number 2: I will give it a grade (i.e. A, B or C).

I will use a scale of 1 to 10 (i.e. 10 being Citizen Kane and 1 being Catwoman). Please let me know by leaving a reply at the end of this post as to which you would like me to use.

This week I will be reviewing Ironman 2. If you haven’t seen Ironman 2 by now then I can only say why not? I don’t like going into too much detail about the plot so instead I will break down the movie in other ways.
This movie has what you want in a Summer blockbuster: Action, action, and more action, until the middle when it slows down tremendously. I feel as though there could have been several scenes cut differently to speed up the overall pace of the film.

Ironman’s newest foe (on screen at least), Whiplash, is played well by Mickey Rourke. His performance needed to be used more often in the film. As with The Dark Knight I wanted to see more of the bad guy in this movie. I think Rourke’s performance could have been close to that of Ledger’s Joker if they had only used Rourke more.

In the movie as with this review the ending is a bit anti-climatic. It builds up into a huge fight and the fight ends with too much ease, but up until that point it looked wonderful. The visual effects are well done and that is hard to say in this day and age.

To end this weeks review I’m going to use an example of each of my “grading” systems. Firstly, this movie is good. It’s well worth the watch on the big screen and later the little screen at home. On the grading scale I’d say this movie is a clear B+. As to where the first Ironman was an A, this one falls just a little short. And if I were to use a scale I’d give it an 8 with the previous film being an 8.5.

So with that I hope you have an idea of how future reviews will be. Short and to the point.
