T-Mobile’s Garminfone now available

Today T-Mobile USA released the Garmin-Asus Garminfone. Garmin’s mostly know for their GPS devices. This is the companies first Android based phone the handset will be running Android 1.6.  The handset will feature a 3.0 megapixel camera, 4GB of flash memory, 256MB SDRAM, 256MB ROM, GPS & 2GB micro SD card. The Garminfone will not feature the stock Android user interface. Instead it has a custom user interface that gives easy access to the calling functions,search & navigation functions on the handset’s home screen. The handset has a very easy to use interface with a side scrollbar menu that gives you easy access to your text messaging, Gmail, Android Market, contacts & web browser etc. According to Cnet the Garminfone is expected to get an update to Android 2.1The Graminfone will cost a $199.99 with two-year contract and after a $200 instant discount & a $50 dollar mail-in rebate. If you plan on going with a non-contract plan with T-Mobile it will cost you $449.99. Below is a hand’s on review video of the handset from Cnet & Phonedog.
