Apparently, a protest group who calls themselves Culture Beyond Oil thought that pouring black molasses around a 3000 year old statue would be a great way to make a statement.
Culture Beyond Oil stated that they were demonstrating against BP’s sponsorship of the museum amid the massive oil spill crisis in the Gulf of Mexico.
Activists told reporters they chose an object from Easter Island because it “represents the way in which civilizations once considered invincible can collapse in a short period of time.
