President Barack Obama had to replace Christina Romer as the top economic adviser to the President. And today Obama announced that Austan Goolsbee will be the new chair of the Council of Economic Advisers to the President. This is a high office and high position for anyone economist to hold. President Obama went on to say that, “Austan’s been one of my good friends and close economic advisers for many years,” the President said during his remarks this morning. “He’s not just a brilliant economist. He’s someone who has a deep appreciation of how the economy affects everyday people and he talks about it in a way that’s easily understood… I have complete confidence he’s going to do an outstanding job.”
