However, additional fees or points are not included in the computation; although, the majority of the borrowers have to pay them in order to obtain the best rates. One point translates to 1% of the principal amount.
The average fee dropped to 0.7 from last week’s 0.8 for a fifteen year loan. The same figures applied for a thirty year mortgage. The average rate increased to 3.18 for a 5-yerar mortgage.
