According to TMZ sources, Kobe Bryant and his 13 year old daughter Gianna Maria Onore — aka GiGi died in a helicopter crash in Calabasas Sunday morning.
Witnesses report the engine sputtering before it crashed and went up in flames. It was reported there were 5 people on board, with no survivors.
It’s well known what a legend Kobe was. On Saturday, LeBron James passed Kobe as third on the all-time NBA scoring list. He paid tribute to Bron on Instagram — his last post — by saying, “On to #2 @kingjames! Keep growing the game and charting the path for the next.”
Here’s a video called “The Legend of Kobe Bryant (Tribute) – 20 Minutes of Kobe’s TOP 50 NBA Highlights” as a reminder of what a legend he was:
With the latest news we can say that nine people died in the accident. Also, investigators are doing their best to search for the clues and provide a bit more detailed report.
It seems the last words of the pilot that was operating the helicopter are pointing towards the weather difficulties.
As we can see, the pilot Ara Zobayan had an idea to climb over the cloud layer to avoid the fog. However, that didn’t go as planned and the crash was eminent.
It is now, with absolute certainty, sure that Gianna’s two teammates were on the helicopter that crashed on Sunday morning. Also, beside her two friends, their parents were also present and their basketball coach as well. Such a sad accident. Not only was the NBA legend and his daughter taken too early, but the loss of the others is indescribable.
