How to reset iPhone

Firstly, you have to back up your phone. You can use either iTunes or iCloud.

For iCloud, go to Settings, then tap iCloud and Backup and ensure that the feature is enabled

To see when the last backup was run look under the Back Up Now option where the date and time should be displayed.

To use iTunes you will have to plug your device into your computer or Mac using the charging cable. Then, click on the iPhone or iPad icon in the top-left corner of iTunes.

Now you are ready to perform a factory reset.

This means that all of your data will be deleted, which backing up your phone essential before resetting it.

  1. To reset go to Settings, then General, tap on Reset and select Erase All Content and Settings
  2. Tap Back up phone when asked
  3. After typing in your password, you will get an option Erase iPhone. Tap it
  4. Enter your Apple ID passcode to confirm the action
  5. You can also restore your device through iTunes or Finder

If you forgot to back up your device, there is still chance that there is a backup and you are still not aware of it.

Just go to Settings and iCloud and click on Storage. There you will see various backups of your iOS devices.
