BP Gulf Oil Spill Update, Live Feed Shows Progress & More Equipment
I’ve been using the PBS Ustream live video feed to show the BP oil pipe leak, but I was just checking out the actual live feed provided by BP and it looks a whole lot nicer.
The BP live feed of the oil leak site 5000 feet deep in the ocean is actually showing a picture of progress, in my opinion. If you check out the feed, you’ll actually see that a large amount of equipment is now in place.
Although the oil is still gushing from the busted pipeline, the amount of equipment closing in on the leak certainly gives the impression that the oil leak will be stopped soon.
BP’s efforts in collecting oil
BP just announced today that for the first 12 hours on June 9th (midnight to noon), approximately 7,290 barrels of oil were collected and 15.7 million cubic feet of natural gas were flared.
BP goes on to report that on June 8th, a total of approximately 15,000 barrels of oil were collected and 29.4 million cubic feet of natural gas were flared.
Additional vessels will be arriving on site to assist in the collection and processing of oil.

The oil spill was labeled a national security risk early on.
Therefore, the government calls the shots on the media coverage allowed.
Does that answer your question?
