If you own some iOS device here is a guide how to authorize iTunes on computer.

Namely, the authorization process only pertains to computers running MacOS and Windows 10. That said, you can have an unlimited number of iOS devices accessing iTunes and your Apple ID account.

How to authorize iTunes on your computer?

First of all, Apple provides iTunes two ways for Windows-based devices.

There is the traditional desktop software version in 64-bit and 32-bit formats and as an app through the Microsoft Store.

For authorizing iTunes on your computer follow these steps.

Open iTunes.

Sign in with your Apple ID.

Navigate to Account on the menu bar at the top of the iTunes window. If it is not visually available on the desktop edition, type Control + B on your keyboard.

Select Authorizations.

Select Authorize This Computer.

Enter your password, then hit the Enter/Return key or click/tap the Authorize button.

Furthermore, the same procedure goes for your MacOS device.

What to do when rejected?

If you are trying to authorize a device and it is rejected, you may have too many devices on your Apple ID’s authorized list.

The computer limit is five, so you will need to check your list for devices that are authorized but no longer using iTunes.

For Windows 10 and Mac

Open iTunes.

Sign in with your Apple ID

Navigate to Account on the menu bar at the top of the iTunes window.

Select View My Account.

Enter your password, then hit the Enter/Return key or click/tap the Sign In button.

Scroll down to the Apple ID Summary section.

Additionally, here is a way to see a list of all authorized devices based on Windows 10, MacOS and iOS.

Windows 10 and MacOS- manage device

Open iTunes.

Sign in with your Apple ID

Navigate to Account on the menu bar at the top of the iTunes window..

Select View My Account.

Enter your password, then hit the Enter/Return key or click/tap the Sign In button.

Scroll down to the iTunes in the Cloud section, and click on the Manage Devices link.

On the next Manage Devices screen, you’ll see all authorized Windows, MacOS and iOS devices.

De-authorize a device if allowed.

Facebook has launched a new app for photo sharing called “Moments”. This time, Facebook is more focused on saving the countless photos that are saved in your phone. The app will allow you to quickly share your friends’ photos with them. Moments app scans through the saved photos in the camera roll, and automatically suggests the people who are in the photo in the form of tags. So if you are sifting through your photos using the Moments app; it will scan the photos and suggest the name of a friend who is in the photo along with an option to share that photo with him/her.

You can quickly press the Sync option and the photo will be shared with the friend. But, this could only happen if that user is also using the Moments app. If not, the app will send a notification to the friend in the Facebook Messenger app, alerting that there is a new photo you want to share with him.

There are literally hundreds of photo apps out there, but what makes Moments unique is its ability to detect faces, and options of sharing them quickly. This would really increase the interaction. We all have hundreds of photos in our camera rolls which are lying there unshared because we are too lazy to do the whole process, tagging manually.

Download Moments for iOS and Android

Apple has announced that it will open two new data centers in Europe for the first time. The tech giant will invest $2 billion in a data center endeavor, which, according to many experts, was taken after the massive demands from Europe to secure the data of iCloud, iTunes and other software services.

US companies are facing regulatory problems from Europe after Edward Snowden, the whistle-blower from the US intelligence services claimed that the US government is spying the Europe through its tech companies. Amazon also launched its native data center for Europe.

Apple will host iTunes, iCloud, software data and other services in its European data centers for the native users. The data centers will go live in 2017. Denmark and Ireland are chosen as the place for data centers. Ireland will be the headquarters of Apple operations now.

US tech companies have faced heavy fines in Europe due to regulatory issues. According to European laws, if a company is found to be guilty of not adhering to strict rules regarding user data privacy, fines are implemented, which can go up to $114 million. Apple used to sign a plethora of contracts, agreements, regulatory documents to host data of its European customers in its servers in the US. Opening data centers in Europe will relieve Apple of these daunting tasks. But this relaxation comes at $2 billion initial cost with continuous expenses in its European data centers from 2017.

EU accused Apple of some illegal tax arrangements with Irish government a few months back, but both parties rejected this claim.

Naturally the creator of the highly successful and incredibly addicting game, Flappy Birds, has surprised critics and players with his latest creation, Swing Copters, a game he has just released on IOS and android devices.

Vietnamese developer, Dong Nguyen, shocked fans earlier this year when he publicly announced his decision to make Flappy Birds unavailable despite its popularity; citing an aversion to the game’s addictive nature. Whether that was a marketing ploy or not, it certainly branded Nguyen as a notable name in app development, skyrocketing him to fame. His name being attached to Swing Copters alone could explain its sudden rise to the 12th most popular game in the App Store after having been released only earlier that day. While that theory is likely, the game is also getting praise from critics and players as fun, addictive and visually reminiscent of its predecessor, Flappy Birds.
Like Flappy Birds, Swing Copters follows the same basic premise of getting to point A to point B without dying. The seemingly simple task of maneuvering a flying pixelated character about your mobile screen, avoiding gates with swinging hammers, seems easy enough. However, much like Flappy Birds, these simple challenges don’t seem daunting at first, but quickly prove to be incredibly difficult and frustrating. In fact, many players have been reporting that Swing Copters is far more challenging than Flappy Birds. With that in mind, people have been wondering if Swing Copters will inherit the same success Flappy Birds has. It looks as if it might be on track to do so, but if it should, will Nguyen become bestow the same ill-fate on Swing Copters?

Again, the game is available on ios and android devices and can be downloaded free from the app store. You have the option of paying a one-time fee of $0.99 for an ad-free version.

Having trouble transferring music back to your iTunes library?

If you ever lose your iTunes library, you’ll find out that you cannot get your music into your new library because it becomes out of sync. Here’s an easy solution to get your music from you iPhone or iPod back.

Lifehacker wrote a great article at the beginning of the month called, “How Can I Transfer Music from My iPod or iPhone to My Computer?“. The tutorial came in handy after my Mac crashed and I lost my iTunes music collection. I was left with some music on my iPhone, not all of my library but my favorites so I searched for a way to get my MP3’s from my iPhone to my iTunes library. You’ll find out you can’t do it without downloading a 3rd party app to get them back and many 3rd party applications try to charge you an arm and a leg just to get your music back! LifeHacker provides an awesome, FREE resource to get the job done without breaking out your wallet.

The tutorial on LifeHacker is geared towards getting your iPhone music to your iTunes on any operating system, however the step where they tell you to drag and drop the music folder didn’t seem to work for me. I’m not sure if it’s because I upgraded my Macbook to Lion OSX or not, but here’s what I did to transfer my music. It should work for your iPhone or iPod on any operating system.

Step One: Find Your iPhone’s Music Folder

If you have an iPhone or iPod touch, you’ll need to download a free program called iExplorer, formerly known as iPhone Explorer, to find your music folder.

Here are some recent reviews for the program in case you wanted to be sure it’s legit:

by Lou lou, August 14, 2011
I couldn’t download my videos from I phone 4 because they were to long. I found this site through reviews and my god its brilliant. I’m so impressed by it I can’t wait to tell everyone about it. A really big thank you I was so worried that I wouldn’t be able to save my videos. So brilliant.
by Ishikawa Ryutaro, September 09, 2011
I am just simply amazed by how simple and effective this program works. There are no catches to it. Just simply plug in your iPhone and it just works! Normally I don’t write reviews but this really deserves it.

Look under User > Media > iTunes_Control > Music in the left sidebar. This is where your music is stored. If you’re on an older iPod, plug it in and start up iTunes. Click on the iPod in the left sidebar and check the box that says “Enable Disk Mode”. Then, open up Windows Explorer and click on the iPod in the sidebar. If you don’t see the iPod_Control folder, go to Organize > Folder and Search Options and hit the View tab. Click the “Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives” radio button and hit OK. You should see a folder called iPod_Control show up, in which you’ll find all your music.

Step Two: Open iTunes

The iPod_Control folder houses all your music, but its in a cryptic and hard-to-understand file structure. This doesn’t matter, since we’re just going to transfer all of it directly into iTunes, and iTunes will sort it out for us. Open up iTunes and head to Edit > Preferences (or, on a Mac, iTunes > Preferences). Click the Advanced tab and make sure both boxes are checked on this page—both to Keep the iTunes Media Folder Organized and to Copy Files to iTunes Media Folder. This will ensure that iTunes copies all that music to your computer and renames all your songs for you.

Step Three: Drag, Drop, and Wait

Here’s where Lifehacker’s method of dragging and dropping didn’t work for me. You might as well try doing this and if it doesn’t start copying try my alternative below. Click on “Music” in iTunes’ sidebar, select the “iPod_Control” folder inside iPhone Explorer, and drag the “Music” folder from the right pane into the main iTunes window.

If dragging and dropping doesn’t work, copy the entire folder to your desktop. Go into iTunes > File > Add to Library and fine the folder on your desktop you just copied. Your iTunes will import all of the music from your iPhone/iPad! You can remove the folder on your desktop now because all of the music is already copied to your iTunes library folder. You can access your mp3 files at any time by browsing through the iTunes library folder if you ever need to use them for something.

Hopefully you enjoyed this FREE way to transfer music from your iPhone or iPod to your iTunes library. Spread the word if you liked the tutorial and let us know if you run into any problems!

I just received my invite today from Music Beta by Google. Going through the process of getting setup, and then installing Google’s new music platform was quite easy and pain free. Something that I’ve come to expect with most Google products. The interesting thing I noticed, and thought was very cool, was that I received something like 450 songs for free. These songs are licensed by Google for the Music Beta platform, and before I loaded a single song I was up and running with a respectable size library of songs.

So I proceeded with the install and started the process of uploading my own music. Thing is, I have around 20,000 songs so I was excited to get started to see exactly what Google’s Music locker would do. Surprisingly, the platform scanned all my songs, prepared to upload, then started the process of bringing the songs up. Now I have to admit, with this many songs it’s going to take awhile. And I started the upload process about 7 hours ago and we are still going. But regardless, up to now, it looks like Google is uploading every song I have.

Will Music Beta by Google actually kill iTunes?

This might be a bit of a stretch, but Google Music has one thing that iTunes currently does not and that is web access to your entire library. With Google Music, when you open the application the platform loads in a web browser, not a desktop app. This gives you access to your music library from any location that has web access – something iTunes currently doesn’t have.

And with iTunes song library’s not being accessible online, you are still tied to a single location where you have iTunes installed. However, with Google Music, you can access your music from any computer, anywhere in the world, so long as you have the web.

Now granted, all it would take is Apple to finally launch an iTunes platform online and the playing field would once again be leveled. But until that happens, I’m thinking that Google’s got a pretty strong sales proposition with Google Music.

Right now, you can get Music Beta by Google for free. However, according to Google’s statements about the platform, the “free’ness” of Music Beta will not last indefinitely. The exact pricing for Google Music has yet to be released.

You can request an invite to Google’s Music Beta by clicking here.

If you are a Mac owner, and you love Ebay, then today might a great day for you.

Ebay launched the Ebay Mac App today and is now available for free download on the Mac App Store.

The Ebay Mac App gives you all of the main content from the standard Ebay website, but in a much cleaner, much more refined presentation. This strategy is designed for faster delivery of the most important elements of Ebay products.

The simple interface gives you fast access to manage your active and watched sales, search Ebay (U.S. only), view your saved and recent searches, and access Ebay’s daily deals.

The Ebay Mac App is currently only available in the U.S. for now. Of course, as Ebay optimizes and refines the app, it will more than likely be launched in markets throughout the world.

A discovery has been made deep in the coding language of the new Facebook video calling app that suggests Facebook could have something VERY big up its sleeve.

The uncovered code hints at a possible Facebook online music service that would compete with the likes of iTunes, Google, and Amazon.

Here’s the code that was discovered by software engineer Jeff Rose:

if(paramString.equals(“com.facebook.peep”))
return this.window.getMember(“VideoChatPlugin”);
if (paramString.equals(“com.facebook.vibes”)) {
return this.window.getMember(“MusicDownloadDialog”);
}

Note the last line of actual code where it says “MusicDownloadDialog”.

Of course, this is the first solid sign that Facebook could be developing an online music store.

No one really knows anything at this point.

But why would the same batch of code for the new Facebook video calling app have a reference to “MusicDownloadDialog” in it?

Is it possible that Facebook’s online music store could also be integrated into the new Facebook video calling?

Thoughts?

And that friend goes by the name of Apple!

Apple just released a new “iPad How To” video in their “iPad How To Podcast” that shows users how to leverage the Square payment processing system on the iPad.

The fact that Apple is now, in affect, promoting the Square payment solution is a really big deal for Square. Apple specifically recommends the payment product to help users process cash and credit cards transactions directly on their iPads.

Is the iPad the next cash register?

There are rumors out that Google could be launching, as early as today, a new Google music service that seems similar to what Amazon.com recently launched.

This isn’t a service that is going to compete with the likes of iTunes however.

Google’s music service seems to be more like a data storage service where users can upload music they’ve already purchased, and then listen to the music in a streamlined platform designed for the organization and delivery of music files.

The service offering from Google is said to only include an upload function – no downloading of music. This is an attempt on Google’s part to limit the risk of the spreading of pirated music.

Apple has moved up to the #4 spot in top PC vendors in the U.S. with an 8.5% market share, this according to MacObserver. Apple is aggressively growing their Mac business and gaining grounds in the PC market.

The Beatles finally came to iTunes in November selling more than 1.4 million songs in their first week. Beatles was one of the biggest holdouts in the iTunes scene.

Why?

Apparently the Beatles’ umbrella company, Apple, has had a long time copyright feud with Apple… After legal battles since 1981, the two Apples, along with EMI, the Beatles’ record label, came to an exclusive agreement with iTunes.

But the Beatles are far from the only holdout on iTunes. You still won’t find Garth Brooks, Kid Rock, or AC/DC, just to name a few, on iTunes. And others have just joined in the last few years like Metallica and Led Zeppelin.

While Paul McCartney said that he would like to see the Beatles on iTunes, many of the other holdouts, Such as AC/DC, say that iTunes is “going to kill music if they’re not careful.”

Most of these bands and artist have issue with non-variable pricing and patrons being able to download only certain songs of the album.

Of course, those are some of the aspects of iTunes that patrons like the most. You pay $1.25 for the song you want, and only the song you want.

As a patron I like this aspect myself, but as a writer if by books were to be sold at the same flat rate, chapter by chapter, I would be appalled too.

Do you think that these artists are just delaying the inevitable or do they have a point?

So to give you more of what you love in iTunes, Apple has gone ahead and tripled the song preview length – but it’s not applicable to every song.

Here’s the breakdown of the songs affected – only those in the U.S. store, and only songs longer than 2 minutes and 30 seconds.

And my guess is that if record labels see an increase in buying activity off this new preview length, then the songs affected could dramatically increase.

I guess I never realized how confusing it could be to access your iTunes account via your iPhone until I bought my daughter her own iPhone. Along with her iPhone, I gave her a $15 gift card for iTunes. Of course we set up her iTunes account on the computer and everything was fine until I had to login to her iTunes account on her iPhone via the iTunes App.

Obviously I must have figured it out at one point in the past because I checked my iTunes App on my iPhone and I was logged in. But I’ve never logged out, so apparently logging in once is all you need to do.

Anyway, I struggled to get my daughter logged into iTunes on her iPhone to be quite honest with you.

Finally, after a few frustrating minutes of tinkering around the iTunes App I finally figured it out.

And now I want to share it with you so hopefully you can avoid this frustration when you need to login to your iTunes account on your iPhone.

How to login to iTunes on your iPhone:

1) Go to your iTunes app on your iPhone

The iTunes app on your iPhone is a purple app. You can either flip through your app pages, or simply click your home button (the circle button on the bottom) and you should get a search bar > type in “itunes” > and then your purple iTunes app should pop up.

2) Tap your iTunes app

Once you find your purple iTunes app, go ahead and tap the app to open it

3) Tap on “Music”

When iTunes opens on your iPhone, there is not telling exactly what window will show. If you look along the bottom of your screen however, you will see options such as “Music” – “Videos” – etc…

Go ahead and tap the “Music” option.

4) Scroll all the way to the bottom

Once you’ve tapped the “Music” option, the main music page of your iTunes app will open. This might take a couple of seconds depending on the data connection your iPhone has.

Once the screen is fully loaded go ahead and scroll all the way to the bottom on the “Music” page.

5) Tap “Account”

At the very bottom of the “Music” screen on your iTunes app is your account sign in. Go ahead and tap that link and a screen will pop up asking you to either “View Account” – “Sign In / Out” – “Cancel”

And their you go – go ahead and sign in and you’ll be able to proceed with purchases and iTunes account management from your iPhone.

Hope this helped!

Apple released the new iTunes 10 that brings some huge changes to the iTunes you’ve been used to.

First, with iTunes 10 you get a new iTunes logo (here it is):

Finally, the new iTunes 10 brings you a cool new social network called Ping.

Ping allows you to turn your love for music into a more social activity such as following friends and artist, post comments, review custom song and album charts, find just about every concert known to man, and you can even tell your friends what concert you’ll be attending.

iTunes 10 is now available for download at http://www.apple.com/itunes/download

However, I have found that the update has not yet made it to my iTunes as an update.

So what do you think about the new iTunes 10 and Ping social network?

The big question now is what cities are available for the Seemless Web service?

Here’s an official list of cities that currently support Seemless Web:

Available cities [Beta]:

• Manhattan, NY
• Queens, NY
• Brooklyn, NY

For those of you who want a faster, easier way to spend a lot of money on fast food, all without having to leave the comfort of your home, then Seemless Web is about to be your best friend.

Seemless Web just launched a new mobile app for the iPhone and Blackberry devices.

Seemless Web for Android devices is coming soon.

Here’s a recap from iTunes:

Place orders for delivery or takeout from the full menus of restaurants in your area using your iPhone or iPod Touch. With SeamlessWeb’s free app [Beta] you can order food from restaurants in New York City (Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn), New York Metro (Hoboken, Jersey City, Stamford, Greenwich), Washington DC, DC Metro (Arlington, Bethesda, Chevy Chase), and select areas within San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles. No fees, no cash, no hassle—just the simple, easy ordering you’ve always enjoyed online at SeamlessWeb.com.

How Seemless Web works:

Use your GPS location or your address to browse restaurants in your area. Select a restaurant, customize and add menu items to your order, and check out using your personal credit card—no cash required! Your order is instantly transmitted to the restaurant, which then prepares your meal for delivery or pickup.

Seemless Web for the iPad

Although the Seemless Web website doesn’t mention the iPad, I’m assuming that app from iTunes will work just as well on the iPad as it will on the iPhone.

Does anyone have more info about Seemless Web working on the iPad?

If the app isn’t yet compatible for the iPad, I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before we see Seemless Web come to the ipad.

So what do you think about Seemless Web launching their own apps for iPhone, Blackberry, and Android (coming soon).

Read more about Seemless Web here.

The other day I wanted to check out what was “hot” in the free iPhone app list in the App Store on my iPhone. Looking at the top 25 free apps I saw Finger Physics sitting in the number one position, and the iPhone App also looked cool, so I downloaded it.

That was about the end of my excitement for Finger Physics.

As soon as I opened Finger Physics, I felt like I was being marketed to at every tap of the iPhone. Not only was the marketing and presentation frustrating, but getting started an actually playing something was equally challenging.

Once the app loads, you are staring a screen filled with boxes that all look the same, and no real direction as to what will happen depending on which box you select.

Then, after clicking a box you are left staring at an egg, or a circle, that you need to guide into a certain location. After spending some time trying to figure the game out, I finally got it – I figured out how to get the egg in the basket.

So I give the Finger Physics iPhone App two thumbs down and I do not recommend you spend your time downloading, and then trying to figure out the app. Just move on…

You can download Finger Physics from iTunes here (opens iTunes).

Yesterday I wrote about how Apple just released the iOS 4.1 beta to developers in the iPhone Dev Center. Well, about 24 hours later and the iOS 4.0.1 (notice the extra 0) is now available in iTunes to update your iPhone.

Here’s a breakdown of the some of the features that iOS 4.0.1 delivers:

improved formula for determining how many bars of signal strength to display

Products compatible with this update:

iPhone 3G

iPhone 3GS

iPhone 4

As Apple mentioned in their July 2nd press release concerning the iPhone 4 signal strength, they said that the problem with the signal strength dropping was a mis-calculation in the bar display and how it represents actual signal strength the iPhone is receiving.

Perhaps this iOS 4.0.1 update resolves the problem

We should know more tomorrow when Steve Jobs holds a special iPhone 4 press conference at 1Pm EST (10am PST).

In an effort to add a little of humor and fun to the oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, someone decided to create an iPhone app that allows you to plug the gushing oil leak with your finger.

The iPhone App is called Plug the BP Oil Spill and is available in the iTunes App Store for free.

From your iPhone, simply tap the App Store app on your iPhone > search for “plug the bp oil spill” and then simply download it. It literally takes 5 seconds or less for this thing to download.

Then all you have to do is open the Plug the BP Oil Spill app, tap “Begin”, and then you’ll be able to plug the gushing oil with your finger.

Sounds like fun doesn’t it?

Google Music will be a push-to-phone service that was announced during Google I/O. Techchunch has found the Google music logo on Google’s hosted service. I have also noticed that Googlemusic.com has also been registered as a domain from Google, since the Google Music logo URL has been taken down. According to the article the way Google Music works is the user could go to the Market online search for a song download the song. And the song would start to download over-the-air to the user’s Android based handset. This would work the same way for applications as well. Google has acquired Simplify Media, which would offer users a desktop application that would give you remote access to your DRM-free media on your Android based device.

If Google is going to do this service they might want to start launching it soon. Since Apple has bought the lala.com music service, which allows users to stream music online and buy songs. And there is a rumor that Apple is supposed to launch a cloud based version of iTunes this summer.
