Google Olympic Logo Day 7
Today is February 18th, 2010 and marks the 7th day of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
Google is continuing is celebration of the Olympic games with their Google Olympic logo series.
Google is featuring the luge competition in today’s Google logo. However, today they are displaying a forward facing luge racer. On day 2 of the Olympics, Google started the day with a “feet first” facing luge racer and was criticized for the art work. This was due to it being the same sport that the Georgian luge racer died in during his practice runs. So Google changed the logo mid day to a snowboarder.
Here’s Day 7 of the Google Olympic Logo Series:
You can check out all of the Google Olympic logos by visiting our Google Olympic Logo Series page.

forward facing luge is called skeleton
Hi there! Thanks so much for visiting and for leaving your comment. I really appreciate it. I will make sure I do some more research before posting something like this again – obviously I was clueless!
Forward facing luge?!?! It's called a skeleton!!! It's a different sport.
Thanks for visiting and commenting! But don't think you were the first person to point this out…. my wife scolded me within minutes of me posting this :-)
Let me be the third person to point out that the image above is that of a skeleton athlete on his sled. Skeleton and luge are two entirely different sports. Skeleton is my favorite of the three sliding sports. I got to do skeleton a couple of years ago in Park City, Utah, and it was the thrill of a lifetime. I hope to go back and do it again soon.
