Mass Save Rebates Crashes MassSave.com/Residential

Mass Save Rebates Crashes MassSave.com/Residential

Earlier today, that state of Massachusetts launched their Mass Save Rebates program that offered rebates and discounts on trading in your old, energy-inefficient appliances in replace of more “greener” energy efficient ones.

When Mass Save Rebates launched, the site was originally set for www.masssave.com/residential – however, if you go there now, this is all you get:

Which basically means the original Mass Saves Rebate site crashed due to the amount of traffic it received.

Basically, what this means is the State of Massachusetts failed to plan properly with server allocation and bandwidth. They launched their Mass Save Rebates program, masses of people flooded the website, and the website crashed – period!

The problem with the Mass Save Rebates website crashing is that once it’s down, no one else can take advantage of the appliance rebate.

So Massachusetts launched into action and created a new Mass Saves Rebate website so that people weren’t left out of the program.

Here’s the new Mass Saves Rebate program website:

I just visited this site, and as of this article writing, the site is 100% up and functional.

The MassSave appliance rebate plan offers $6.6 million in federal stimulus money for the first come-first served rebates.

Massachusetts residents can get up to $250 for dishwashers, $200 for refrigerators, $175 for clothes washers and $50 for freezers. Consumers must get a reservation number for the rebates.

    • I was lucky enough to fianlly get the rebate that I wanted, however my computer screen went blank before I had a chance to print out the rebate application form and code, so I have nothing to show at the store. Do you have any idea how do I go about obtaining the application form and code? Thank you for any assistance!

  • THIS PROGRAM WAS SUCH A WASTE OF TIME!! TOO MANY PEOPLE AND NOT ENOUGH FOR FUNDING FOR PEOPLE TO UTILIZE. THEIR INTERNET CRASHED, THEIR PHONE LINE WAS BUSY WITH 700 PEOPLE ON HOLD....MASS SAVE SHOULD TELL THE GENERAL PUBLIC THAT YOU HAVE A BETTER CHANCE OF WINNING THE LOTTERY THAN GETTING A RESERVATION ON LINE AND OR CALLING THE CALL CENTER. THIS PROGRAM REFLECTS WHAT GOVERNMENT DOES TO REALLY UPSET THE PUBLIC WITH THESE PROGRAMS...

  • I did not know there was a limit on how many people could get the rebate. I have a fridge that does not close properly anymore due to the seal. I thought, how nice, I can use this program to get a new fridge. I had today off from work so I thought I would go look at fridge models in the store. The sales person said, did you get your number yet? I said, "what number?" she then told me to go home right now (it was around 10:10 am) and sign on to the Mass Save website and get your number. She said "hurry!" So I drive home, like a crazy person. I made it to my laptop by 10:30 and went to the website only to find out that the server could not handle all the hits it was getting, so gave errors all day long! Then I tried calling all day long. At 4:30 I finally got a voice mail that said all number were taken and the wait list was full.

WHAT A STINK-EN JOKE! MASS SAVE should be ashamed of themselves perpetuating such a program! It was obviously not fully thought out and properly supported technically. I guess my food will continue to defrost until I can afford a new fridge. I hope those who got through were in need of a new fridge and not just redecorating! The program should be renamed to A#@ SAVE...

    • I too spent the day trying to get on line and failed. Last week I spent a bit of time doing my homework preparing for my "wind fall" checking on appliances (my dryer is 14 years old and dishwasher 9--both not working) and as the previous person wrote what a stink-en joke. Quite a bail out the federal government supplied the working stiffs with. I'm sure not one of the big executives with their bonuses went on line or even thought of it since we have paid for all of their energy saving products, and their boats, private schools, vacations. ect ect. what a shame
