BP Gulf Oil Spill Update – Seal In Place, Live Oil Spill Feed
The BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has become the largest oil spill disaster in history. Massive amounts of oil has been gushing into gulf by the second, and BP has been receiving unprecedented pressure from both the public, and the federal government. On top of this pressure is the complexities of trying to contain a massive oil rush 5000 feet below the ocean surface.

Yesterday BP announced what has been perhaps the best news so far since their oil well exploded and broke the pipe that is now gushing oil into the gulf. BP announced yesterday that “oil and gas is being received onboard the Discoverer Enterprise following the successful placement of a containment cap on top of the Deepwater Horizon’s failed blow-out preventer (BOP). This follows the cutting and removal of the riser pipe from the top of the BOP’s lower marine riser package (LMRP)”, according to BP’s most recent press release.

By the looks of the live feed, it is evident that there is a lot of work to be done in the new sealing process of the broken oil pipe. The video below, as you can see, is showing oil still gushing from the pipe.
However, BP is announcing positive progress in an otherwise complex disaster.

i live in panama city beach,fl and the oil is right on our doorstep, the lives of thousands in this town will change including mine, we all work in the tourism industry, now what? More than that, money cant fix the damage that has already occured to the most beautiful body of water on earth, so fix that bp, fix my gulf, fix it back to the way it smelled and felt and looked to me as a child, the majestic gulf has supernatural powers, the sparkle over the water at sunset, the emerald green tint, the clearest and most pure beaches ever, and it will forever be changed, im not big on the 2012 apocalypse stuff, but damn this really makes you think, we can destroy ourselves all by ourselves, and im not a liberal treehugger, im a registered republican, and if this is coming from me then obviously shit has hit the fan..

Are yall seeing or smelling oil in PCB yet. Also have they placed any booms to try and stop the oil? I have been going to PCB for 20 years and would still come back this year if the beaches arent closed. What are the locals expecting will happen in the weeks to come?

WOW!! Nice speech, considering this largest man made disaster was created by money greed with no contingency plan! BP made THIS disaster....as a direct result of the gluttony of people wishing for more oil! Well guess what? Be careful for what you ask for you may get it!You got MORE OIL at the expense of 11 lost souls and an ecological disaster!!!!

Make this your priority and part of every conversation you have, we need action at every level.Look into getting your HAZWOPER training, talk with your employer and see if it can be arranged where you work. Plan a vacation with your family where, after you are trained, you together can volunteer.
Now, as never before in most of our lifetimes, is there a need to mobilize our great nation. The only thing like it would be WWII and we did it as a unit. The same urgency is needed here and now- not tomorrow or when the oil is washing up around Washington, DC.

Please every able bodied man and woman get training and prepare to help. Please call your Congressman and Senator and tell them for your further support they need to provide for the preparations of the biggest clean up in history. We do not have time to wait for inept BP to think about how it will save money on the clean up. We will have plenty of time to track down who is responsible and have them pay later.
The oil spill is truly bad and harms many people, that cannot be denied. The other truth is that over a period of years those being harmed have directly or indirectly benefitted from BP and the oil industry in the gulf.
I have no doubt that someone or several someones made bad mistakes that led to the explosion.
The issue now is to contain the well, work with the spilled oil and attempt to assign blame later. Most folks have no idea of the complexity of the issue nor the way to fix it. Let the people who know the oil business do their work.
