Eric the “cell phone jammer”, from Philidelphia has stirred up a lot of controversy when he was caught using a cell phone jammer on a public bus. Authorities were tracking him down after finding out that he was using it on multiple occasions. So what does a cell phone jammer do? If you haven’t figured out from the name, a cell phone jammer interferes with cell phones so there is basically a dead spot of service.
Eric’s reason for using the cell phone jammer on buses? He didn’t want to hear annoying phone conversations while on the bus. He said he didn’t eavesdrop and just used the jammer to quiet them down. The man, identified as Eric, told NBC reporters: “I guess I’m taking the law into my own hands, and quite frankly, I’m proud of it.”
Authorities are troubled by this situation. There’s a gray area with cell phone jammers although they are illegal. What do you think? Are they that bad?
