Darius Rucker is splitting up with his wife after 20 years of marriage

Charleston native and Hootie & the Blowfish singer Darius Rucker announced that he and his wife, Beth, have decided to split.

Darius Rucker stated on his Instagram that they remained close friends and parenting partners. Additionally, they will continue to motivate one another. Their priority will always be their beautiful family.

They will continue to encourage growth and expansion in one other.

They met in 1998 in New York City while Beth was working in New York for VH1 and Darious was in town playing with his band, Hootie and the Blowfish.

Consequently, the two married in 2000 and have 2 children together, Daniella, 19, and Jack, 15. Darius Rucker also has a daughter named Caroline, 25, from a previous relationship.

Rucker, who has won multiple Grammy Awards with rockers Hootie & the Blowfish as well as for his solo country music work, got support from fellow musicians and more after the announcement.

His close friend Brad Paisley said, “Love to you.”

Rascal Flatts guitarist Joe Don Rooney wrote, “Nothing but love to y’all.”

Moreover, Jake Owen said, “Love to you and your family man.”

Darius Rucker – Biography and music career

Darius Rucker was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina. His mother raised him with his three sisters and two brothers.

According to Rucker, his father was never around, and only saw him before church on Sundays.

Darius Rucker first gained fame as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of rock band Hootie and the Blowfish, which he founded in 1986.

The band released five studio albums with him as a member and charted six top 40 hits on the Bilboard Hot 100.

Rucker co-wrote most of the songs with the other members.

He released a solo R&B album, “Back to Then” in 2002 on Hidden Beach Recordings. However no singles from it charted.

Six years later Darius Rucker signed to Capitol Nashville as a country music singer, releasing the album “Learn to Live”.

In addition, its first single, “Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It”, made him he first black artists to reach number one on the Hot Country Songs charts since Charley Pride in 1983.

In 2009, he became the first black American to win the New Artist Award from the Country Music Association, and the second black person to win any award from the association.
