A popular Instagram app called InstLike promised free followers and likes for using it. All it asked for was your username and password. Sounds ridiculous, but over 100,000 passwords were compromised.
Symantec estimates that at least 100,000 users fell for the scam
For almost an entire month, from Oct. 8 until Nov. 7, when it was removed from the App Store, InstLike was either the No. 2 or the No. 1 highest-grossing app among utilities applications, and in the top 200 overall.
Lesson learned – don’t give out your username and password to shady app’s that are offering likes for free!
