Subway Debuts Chicken Salad for Limited Time

Several of the Subways in our area of Georgia already serve a chicken salad sandwich, but it is offered in addition to the regular menu by franchises that have chosen to do so on their own.

When it comes to chicken salad, I prefer mine without the added fruit (apples, raisins, etc.)…and without the walnuts or pecans.  I want to taste my chicken.  That is the kind of chicken salad these local franchises are already serving.

Now, according to Subway, they are offering a chicken salad sandwich at all of their restaurants, but they have included the fruit and nut salad in the mix.  Fortunately it will be offered only for a limited time, through July 4th.  Maybe by then they’ll realize that chicken salad is about the chicken, not the fruit.

The “Orchard Chicken Salad” is made with diced chicken breast, chunks of apple, raisins and cranberries mixed with light mayonnaise and served with lettuce and tomato on a choice of bread. It’s available as a $5 Footlong.

Subway is marketing the sandwich as one of its low-fat options. A 6-inch chicken salad sub has 8 grams of fat.

Subway’s Chicken Bacon Ranch and Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki sandwiches are being featured alongside the Orchard Chicken Salad, Subway said.
