The eighth named tropical storm of this season – Tropical Storm Hermine – was given it’s name officially early this morning. Although Tropic Storm Hermine can advance into a hurricane, the storm system is so close to the Mexico / southern Texas coastline that forecaster are not predicting or expecting anything major from Hermine.
Hermine is currently moving at approximately 14 mph and is only about 140 miles south-southeast of Brownsville, Texas.
A hurricane watch and tropical storm warning were issued for stretches of northern Mexico and along the southern Texas coast line.
