With great performance, number 1 ranked tennis player Rafael Nadal advances further in the Australian Open tournament. Namely, he won against Nick Kyrgios who happens to be a very thought opponent for Nadal.
The match was really intense as Rafael Nadal only had a few chances to take the win. Once again, he came on top and reassured everyone who is doubting his skills. It started with a classic point and gem exchange. However, Rafael Nadal took the first breakpoint and is now one step closer to getting his 20th Grand Slam title.
As we can all see, the score was really intense from the beginning to the end. Anyhow, with the first set taken by Nadal, Kyrgios stepped his game up and took the second set in the same manner 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (4). After that, it was looking like the ride will never be over.
Humble in Victory – Nadal
It is known that every tennis superstar, like Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal always stays humble in victory. That’s exactly how Nadal acted once he won against Kyrgios.
“What can I say again about Nick? When he is playing like today, with this positive attitude, he gives a lot of positive things to our sport. So I encourage him to keep working like this.”
Shortly after this statement was given by Nadal, he also mentioned something more about Kyrgios’ talent.
‘’Honestly, he is one of the highest talents that we have on our tour.”
This clearly shows why and how did this tennis superstar become such a successful player and truly a great sportsman.
Never Bitter in Defeat – Nick
Even though, Nadal won the game, Kyrgios still performed well on both off and on the court. Namely, he said that his opponent was really strong and well-positioned during the whole game.
Once again, Kyrgios truly showed something special on the court as he took one set and made Nadal sweat for his win. And, we don’t always have the chance to see something like this during a tennis tournament match.
One moment from the match was really funny and partly interesting. Simply put, Kyrgios made a mistake and instantly yelled ‘’Come on, Nick!’’. Seconds after that, he smacked his forehead with the racket. Fortunately, he was not injured and he was able to continue the match.
