Facebook Deals Expands To More Countries

Facebook Deals allows users to ability to find local deals from their mobile devices in real time, and within the Facebook platform.

When Facebook Deals was first announced on November 2, 2010, it was only available in the United States.

Yesterday however, Facebook expanded it’s Deals platform to six additional countries: Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK.

Facebook Deals seems to be adopting at a very slow rate however.

When I look at the deals available in my area (Athens, Georgia), I only see two deals show up on the map:

I would’ve thought that hundreds of deals would be showing up by now.

Regardless, Facebook Deals is a great new way businesses to reach local customers with deals, in real time, and provide an incentive to bring new customers in the door.

Exactly how long it will take for Deals to be adopted on a large scale by local businesses is still yet to be seen.

I would say give it another 6 months or so and we can make a better assessment on whether or not it will work out.
