There has been a lot of buzz today on the web about the possibility of Google acquiring Yelp. Yelp is the locally targeted, user based content generated, business review and forum site.
The rumors are that Google will acquire Yelp for an estimated $500 million dollars.
Google’s push to dominate the local market has been unprecedented with new features shooting up on Google Adwords for local advertisers. Yelp’s user content generated reviews would be a great addition to the Google product.
Founded in 2004, Yelp claims that 25 million unique visitors visit the website every month with its 2009 revenue reaching $30 million.
