Throughout the year, Twitter has been discussing new services that will be geared specifically toward businesses. The USGS (United States Geological Survey) will begin harvesting tweets from around the world to track earthquake activity. This harvesting of tweets will be accomplished by gathering tweets that utilize specific keywords indicative of an earthquake occurring, and this data will be used as a leading indicator and data collection technique.
Google announced a new URL shortener at goo.gl, which is a new shortener service that can only currently be used only with Google products. The good news is that Feedburner – Google’s feed subscription and syndication service – has integrated the new URL shortener to automatically send new postings from your blog directly to Twitter.
